No Alta for Adams

Realistically look at what kind of money it would take to start a company like alta, you cant blame investors if they have money out there they want to see a return, it's the way it works unfortunately, I still think hd got enough insight to improve upon the electric motorcycle with minimal investment and liability.
HD's main intention was to take the technology and do their own thing with it. That's why they took Alta's top software engineer over to HD....

If you dig them great but to some I see more downside than up.

Mostly I like motor sports for the sound and smell sure a new Tesla is faster than my roadrunner but I would never want an electric vehicle.
Please list out the "more downside than up" reasons for riding an electric motocross bike. I'll be right back with my popcorn.

The only downside is that the Alta, as it currently is built, cannot last more than 45min-1hr worth of actual ride time on a motocross track before needing recharging. But it's not really a downside because 90% of the motocross community can't even spin longer than a 20 minute moto without being exhausted. Also, most local series races only have 10-15 minute motos anyway. I've raced 2 classes / 4 motos in a race day before with recharging in between motos and never even came close to running out of battery.

It has power characteristics that 4 strokes are striving for with even more mechanical simplicity than a 2 stroke. How can you not appreciate that?

keep beating the electric bike drum, that is great and cool, 20 years from now you can say "see......told ya", but for now the Alta is no longer and neither is the network, etc. If someone picks up the baton, then great and it gives the alternative and possible future another chance. In the meantime, enjoy what you committed to. I think Alta and the debacle that has ensued has set e-bikes back at least 5 years.

One of my favorite part on a MX bike has always beeen the pipe, from 2 stroke factory cone ones to those titanium Akra beauties... Always loved both their looks and their singing!
No pipe, no "Braaaaaaaaaaap", an awfully annoying whistling noise (and let's not mention no gears, no clutch, no off-road range, a whale weight and silly price), I absolutely hate these stupid kitchen robots on wheels.
And I'm glad they're gone for now.

Zero is still around- they have focused on the street/dual-sport, which seems to be the smart move, as it's obviously a gigantic market compared with pure moto. Maybe with Alta gone, they will come out with a motocross bike.

Just put one of these on it and problem solved!

The bundles of sticks bashing Altas on Christmas obviously got coal in thier stockings today. Santa may have brought you one of the remaining bikes, but your mouths and fingers got you people on the naughty list. Me an Santa are like peas and carrots, so I know these things.

Yeah, right, great.

I have a better solution: getting rid of electric MX bikes.
Oh, wait, it's already done.

The problem with Alta is that the tech is not interesting for anyone. Even Keefer mentioned it, the tech is nothing new which means that very few are willing to take over the company.

The concept of electric bikes will however live on. It's the future.

The electric bike interests me in almost zero ways. Im content with my Honda 450. If others want to get an e Bike more power to them I will not stand in their way. I just don't know that getting current Moto guys to make the switch is the best way forward. Get some sick mountain bike or bmx guys to make the switch first.

I have a 69 roadrunner and a 72 satellite Sebring plus. I have a 73 charger too. Actually the 72 satellite is a great car. We have fun with them and they are fun to drive I’m buying a newer challenger next year either a scat pack or hellcat.

very cool. i have had a few 68 thru 70 rr's. my 70 was a pistol grip 4 speed bucket seat ac car and they were all much louder than an alta.

That's awesome. My dad had a black 69 RR with the white Plymouth decals on the back panels before I was born. I like the tail lights on the 70 more

We get it...I think ultimately that everybody is happy that you have found your shangri-la. Still doesn't keep reality and truth of the clusterfuck that Alta created from being brought forth. I would probably be the same way if I dropped 11k on s defunct brand regardless of powerplant or agenda.

Yes, of course you can pass a gas powered bike on an alta cuz they don't know when one is behind them.

PS - I just reposted your very cool videos in case someone happens to miss them in your post.

They should have been belt drive so that we don't have to hear the chain slap.

Pretty irrelevant if you ask me. Why? Because kids on 85's and supermini's go around full size bikes at the track all the time.

It just means they have more skills than the guys riding the full size bikes. In this case you had more skills than the riders you passed. The outcome would've been the same had you been on a 125, 250 or 450.

Could you go faster on a 450? Without a doubt as long as your skills are on par with the powerplant. For most people their lap times would be similar no matter what bike they're on.

Is the Alta a capable bike? In the right hands, yes, but the same can be said for an 85/supermini.

I’ll be honest, I tried watching those videos, I think the sound is broken or it’s super windy, can’t really hear anything.

Well I for one never trail ride. I only race mx, so I don't need a bike to run for an hour or more at a time.

That's a valid point, but my personal experience is that I spin faster laptimes on my Alta MXR than I do on my '15 KX450F, and I'm way more consistent on the Alta and can ride longer with less arm pump.

How hard is it to jet the carb?

How often do you have to change the oil?

How often do you have to adjust the valves?

How often do you have to install a new piston?

How hard is it to modulate the clutch?

Is it hard to shift?

Do you ever miss a shift?

Is it ever hard to start?

^^^ Some people like tinkering with motors, carbs, parts, doing maintenance, etc. and consider it part of the fun.

I enjoyed shifting gears and working on my bikes.

Some people prefer driving automatics and some prefer driving stick. Doesn't mean either or is a bad choice, it just means different people like different things.

Personally, the Alta's are boring for me. Twist and go, no clutch, no gears, no sound, etc. is just not appealing.

To each their own.
