Well it looks brand new. Can't really put a price on somethjng in that great of condition especially if it's one you want. If I were looking for a kx 250 I would pay that for that nice of one.

Finding low hour 100% stock 10 year old bikes is tough, but they are out there if you keep looking. I bought a 4 hour '05 CR250 recently for $3k.

Original tires Laughing They are shot. IMO 4k is a bit too steep. Maybe a little over 3k would be more reasonable. If it was never ridden I would say 5k or more all day.

That's what I thought. I got him thinking on my offer for $3000. High retail says $1800 but I know the rarity of these and it's pretty mint.

I also have a price for a new 2014 ktm150sx for $5000 So for a $1000 more I could have a 9 year newer bike. Not sure what to do yet. Any thoughts would help. Thanks

Holy shit! You guys pay that much for new! Where I live you can buy a brand new bike for 3 grand "all day long", and of course they're "mint".

tough to tell just from a picture, but judging by the paint wear on the frame, the dent in the pipe and the worn-out grips, I would bet it's not as mint as it seems

well if you were to actually pay $4,000 for the kawi, I would without a doubt pay the extra grand for the new ktm

I bought one 3-4 years ago in better shape, not a scuff on the frame for $2300. The guy was really rich and didn't need the money though, so I got SUPER lucky! With that being said I have seen them sell like this on ebay for around $4300 but I would still try and talk him down.

I dont know what its worth but I just want to applaud the seller for taking the time to get the bike out of the garage, cleaning it, and taking a nice clear pic in good light with a decent background.

If I see one more CL for sale pic with a bike wedged between a lawn mower a duffle bag and six or seven shovels I'm going to freak.

No way I'd pay $4k for that. You can find one that might not be in as good of shape for ~$2.5k. Throw $1500 at it and you have a MUCH nicer bike than the one above.

don't forget to include the pictures of the owner doing a boner air (3' off th ground) on the bike with the picture taken from 100' away.

I don't think that bike is any where near mint.......but not bad for sure! 4K is too steep though! I would think any where between $2700.00 - $3100.00 would be around the right ball park.....and he WILL sell it for that! It's worth as much as anyone is willing to pay for it.

Spring is coming.......and THIS time of year , the bikes sell like hot cakes!!

So if any of you guys plan on selling....get those things cleaned up and put em out there.

I paid 3000 for mine last year and it truly was unridden... And everyone said i paid too much. I didnt care and am very happy with it right now... I know there are better bikes and the KTM SX250 is pretty sweet but i love my KX and thats all that matters.

If you do buy it search for the MXA test on it and follow their recomendations as it is very accurate.... Yes they say to add a tooth to the rear sprocket Tongue

Here we go. Just because someone was able to successfully kick another guy in the stomach and leave him doubled over in pain in the driveway as he stole a mint 2006 KX250 for $1700, doesn't make that the standard price. Don't get worked up over all the insano deals other people seem to occasionally stumble into and pass off as a completely routine deal.

The fact of the matter is this. $4000 is not a laughable price. It's not like $6500 where you don't even want to approach the guy to have a discussion. In my opinion, $4000 is at the top of the market, with $2500 being at the bottom of the market for a bike like that. Your average deal on the occasional cream puff that pops up from time to time is probably somewhere in the middle = $3200 range or so.

I would also advise people to buy the nicest version of whatever you are looking at that you can afford. You will be hard pressed to buy a run-of-the-mill 2006 KX250 and restore it to that level of quality for less than $4000. And if you do, you would have to seriously consider your time and energy for what could amount to a couple hundred bucks savings.

If you really want it, I would talk to him.

This^^
That clutch cover looks to have either been replaced with a new one or someone put an aftermarket one on when the bike was new. There doesn't seem to be as much wear as on the frame. Doesn't match up.

Check back in with him in a month when he still hasn't sold the bike. My guess is he'll think about it a bit harder.

Listen to this guy.

Also, something that I have seen is that the dirtbike markets vary drastically by region. Just because Joe bought the same bike for $xxxx.xx in California, that doesn't mean anything about the price it would go for in NC. That being said, don't pay what you aren't comfortable with. I think you made the right move offering $3000 and see what happens.

Three years ago, I drove down to Utah from Canada and picked up a KTM 150 for $3000. With exchange at the time, and import fees and gas, it probably cost my closer to $3400. I rode that bike for three years up in Canada and just sold it last week for $3600 (and I have seen the same year same model listed up here for upwards of $4500).

I don't think guys are saying it's that far fetched for a KX250 to be sold for $4,000. I think we are pointing out it might be far fetched to pay $4,000 for that KX250.

Gorgeous but it's still 9 years old. Don't let the aluminum polish fool you. 4k is way too high.

Original parts is just a nicer way of saying old stock parts that will need replacing soon and will be a bitch to work on unless he stripped his bike every cpuple of years to regrease everything.

Like other guys have pointed out, take a closer look at it. The bike is clean, but the frame wear doesn't match the cover wear, etc., so it might be a little refurbished. Not saying it's not worth a higher-end price for an '06, but I think 4k is a bit steep. See it in person, look at the bottom of the frame, check the suspension bearings,...all the wear items that are hard to hide, start it up, and if there isn't anything wrong, Negotiate for at least $3500, LOL!

November of 2013 my dad found a 2007 KX250 with less than an hour of riding in a field time. Paid $2500, rode it once for ~5 laps, sold it for $4200. We were asking 5 if I recall correctly.

We put the pipe on so I could ride it and not dent/scratch the stock one.

I got my 06 KX250 in the spring of 2011 for $3100. Barely any time on it, all stock showroom condition.

Put 3 years of MX racing and riding on it, 100+ hours later the only things I have replaced are top ends, and chain and sprockets. I love the bike, and I'll never sell it even though I have a 2014 250SX right next to in in my garage.

What I am getting at, is that bike is awesome, and if I wanted a good 2-stroke I would plop the coin down and ride off into the sunset, even at $4k.

Shorten the shock internally 10mm and the bike is all around awesome.
