We currently ride an Oset Mx-10. My 6yr old is starting to ride it towards it's limits, should we stay electric and get KTM or husky or join the premixed army? My boy does ask for a gas but seems like he could be swayed 😉 I like the electric, it's easy to use and upkeep and we ride right next to the house almost daily, mind you he hole shots almost every race😁. The gas will likely upset the neighbors but it's faster and cheaper and eventually we would likely have to join the fray if this hobby continues. What is your opinion? Have you made this decision recently?

I got so lost trying to figure out where they were supposed be going on that track...

My boy hopes they make a 65 electric bike.

According to local folklore the kid shown at the 48 second point of the video is still going, and still hasn’t turned.

There were three 6 year olds at my place on Saturday. All 3 just wanted to take turns on my kids electric Husky. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing negative about electric is, you can't just dump a gallon of electric in and go right now like you can with gas. I'd recommend lowering an old KX65 for a back up bike, and installing a recluse clutch. I love my Alta, and the kid loves his e-husky, I'd just recommend a cheap, older gas bike for a backup.
If the Cobra is released it's supposed to have a quick to change battery. The Cobra may be the best option if it ever becomes available.

Not sure how the tracks are where you live. In Florida the few tracks will only allow my kid to race 4-8 open on his electric husky, he can’t race 4-6 with it. Even though he’s AMA 6.

Tried doing a hare scramble beginning of the year. Emailed them about which class. They wouldn’t even allow him to race the electric bikes.

Then at the big AMA races, he obviously can only race it in the e-bike class.

Hmmm y'all aren't making it any easier, I love racing but not sure if we will ever be a serious race effort so I'm not too phased by lack of class opportunity, however it seems for electric to really take they need to allow them to race the gas equivalent. Today feels like a gas bike is next kinda day but I do keep flip flopping. Decision decision decision. .

Hot swap battery would be a done deal with me and a KTM E bike for my 4yr old. The fact that they can raise and lower the bike through all the sizes, customizable power, low maintenance. Worth the 5k then

I don’t have an opinion on one bike or the other, but if you live in a neighborhood your kid could ride in the back yard or empty lot etc without anyone creating a fuss over it on the electric 50. Just one part to think about.

My kid rides in a public park behind my house with his, never could get away with it if he took his gas husky back there lol

All about the electric minis. If you're looking for a cheaper route than the ee5, look up YCF e mini bikes. My daughter has a 50e, she's 5. She loves it. They do make one size larger too.

The whole problem is run time. My son rides from the second he gets gear on and stays out most of the time. The electric won’t last more then an hour and a half. If they could get the batteries easy to change electric is the way to go

Hour and a half lol

We get 15-20 minutes usually

Still like it. They will only get better from here. Hopefully next ones have easy to swap batteries that are cheap

Normal structured practice days where it’s like 50s, then 65s and 85s, then A/B, then C/vet, it’s all good. I just charge when we’re waiting. It’s when we go to open practice tracks and it’s just big bike, then small bikes, then we have to bust out the gas husky or pw50
