Latest Rumor/Fact: No Suzuki Factory Team in MXGP and MX2 for 2018

Seewer unemployed and so is Jasikonis and the whole MX2 Team.

Whose fault is it?
The sport in general?
The immense cost of the world chamionship run by Luongo?
Or Suzuki itself?

I don't know what's going on, but maybe a spec ecu is something that needs to be explored before we get into Moto GP level electronics. Seems like it would help control costs for the smaller teams.

There has been strong rumors of spec ECU coming into MXGP soon.

GET is involved.

I'm 100% in favor of something like that. Maybe even spec tires like in MotoGP.

With this said, i don't buy that rumor. MX2 team might go away but not the 450 MXGP team. I just can't see how Everts closes the MXGP team, that would be embarrassing for him and Suzuki.

I'm not sure ECU's or electronic costs are an investment worth comparing to what they need to spend to go race MXGP.

I heard yesterday that there won't be a factory Suzuki team for the All-Japan Nationals in 18.

Unbelievable...

Are they gonna drop Moto completely or how do they want to sell bikes with 0 exposure?

And all that just after they released a new bike...

So Suzuki is basically completely backing out of MX. Nothing surprising though, they are lucky to have JGR in USA.

How long is the deal between JGR & Suzuki?

Wow, decisions made off of a test. Shock waves.

Seriously, the math doesn't add up. Tip of the iceberg here.

Sad, but for the first time in my life I am legitimately worried that mx/sx is going to go the way of pinball machines, paintball, and car audio...

sucks.... massively...

What a shit show over there at Suzuki. But it's been that way pretty much since the 80s. The full-floater system is their only major contribution to bike development is it not? Other than that, they've always been behind in development and rider support. Last to the removable subframe lowboy pipe party, leopard graphics in the early 90s (seriously WTF?), copied Yamaha's 2-stroke engine in the early 2000s, the Kawazuki 250F, not able to keep DeCoster, No 450F development for like 8 years or whatever, RCH folding, now this.

It can't be a money issue because little itty-bitty TM fields an MXGP team. Boutique brands Beta, Sherco and GasGas field WEC teams and have developed their own unique bikes. It's not 2008 anymore. We might not be in the heyday of bike sales but the market isn't in the gutter anymore is it?

I'm really curious how this JGR alliance is going to work out. Based on Suzuki's record, it does not seem wise to do business with them.

How do they plan on promoting the "new" (revised) 450F in Europe without a team in MXGP?

Dude I hope you are joking, this is going on for a long time ‘Win on Sunday, sell on Monday’ didn't apply to them,
they had the best riders under contract Carmichael, Roczen etc. just to name a few... It's a PR issue not the bike at least that's how I see it, agree to disagree

Damn, that suck if true.
For me there is only one way for Suzuki: Invest heavily in R&D or be gone. Look at Yami and Honda. KTM was taking over, they reacted, spent the money and now Yami sells an awful lot of 250f and Honda their 450.

Not surprising. There has got to be little to no ROI in motocross and when you combine that with Luongo's outrageous fees there you have it.

if "last to the removable subframe party" really is important, then so is 'first to the EFI party' surely??

If all these rumours are true, then there's gonna be hardly anyone on the gates next year. So many top riders with no rides. Very sad times in our sport right now.

It's not the bike per se... they need something like Saatchi & Saatchi
only this cost serious money, Roczen's contract was a bargain in comparison

What the freak is Suzuki's deal? Why come out with a new bike (like it or dislike it) to pull this shit? Either commit to the sport or kick rocks. I was pretty excited about the appearance of them trying to improve their program the past few years, but they're still a joke of a manufacture.

Man , this is all a real bummer to hear. I don't get how a manufacture plans on selling bikes , if they have no race development going on , no exposure , no riders , ect....

Suzuki isn't a small business , and if companies like Sherco and Beta can field race teams......seriously , what the hell?

It's not just the MX division, the entire brand is sick... hard core MX fans may associate them with Carmichael, Decoster etc. but not the general public, who associate them more with mini cars who doesn't look the part at all.

Totally agree with your last sentence. Just wasting everyone's time and energy
