New bike debate post, 250sx or 350sxf?

Edited Date/Time 1/6/2020 9:52am
I had a 2018 ktm 250sx i bought new earlier this year, absolutely loved the bike.

Didnt get to spend much time on it though before i had to sell it due to my son needing a new 65sx.

I had a 2016 ktm 350sxf in 2017, and absolutely loved that bike and had a ton of success on it during my local racing.

Really am having a hard time deciding whats a better buy!

What are your guys opinions and your reasoning on why.

i ride both pretty decent.

I think they are just apples and oranges(no pun intended).

Do you like the 2 strokes or 4 strokes?

2 stroke is easy to maintain but 350 doesn’t need much maintenance.

What will each one cost if you get a 2019?

Personally I think the 350 is way easier to ride and more consistent. But some can say that’s more boring.

I was just having this conversation with Mattyhamz on what to do as I am having so much fun on my 250 2 stroke in between 450s. I have another friend that swears by his 350SXF and I’m not sure what to do, I love my Kawasaki’s and willing to give the FC350 a try but not sure I’ll gel with it and inevitably be back on a green 450.

350 has only gotten better. I imagine a 350 with some ecu mapping would be much easier to go faster on for longer.

buuuuuuuut two strokes are also really fun. I don't think you could go wrong with either!

I'm on the fence between a 350xc-f and yz250fx personally.

I have rode the SXF 350 just never owned one, I can’t hang with orange so husky is my only option.

I had at one point owned a 2014 250sx and a 2017 350sxf. The 350 was so easy to ride faster and it was much smoother and controlled. The 250sx was the older model and chassis and also non counterbalanced so I preferred the 350 by a slight margin. Both were awesome but the new 250 two strokes handle on par with the 350 now, although not as tractable, and the counterbalanced is literally no vibration. I think if I had to take one over the other it would be the two stroke since I ride mostly for fun. Plus with rebates on older models the two stroke SX models are very reasonable price wise.

Both are great. More fun on the 2 stroke, easier to go fast on the 4 stroke.

If I had to choose one right now I’d pick the TC. But I’m really digging the 350 so far, but only have 4 hrs on it.

Whats the pros and cons here?
I have a 19 250 XC and 350SXF. Both are great bikes, but if I only had one I would go with the 350.

Tough call. I have a 350 and 1 of my best friends has a TC250. I would've said 350 all day but I have since added a YZ125 to my garage. So after riding 2strokes again and getting the feel for that style back, I think I could probably fly on the TC250. It's hard to switch back and forth. Also, we all know the obvious pros/cons of 2 vs 4. It is a really tough decision. I feel like the 350 is so smooth and so easy to ride. But the TC just flicks side to side so easy and the motor is still really fast and aggressive. I like the ability to change lines on 2 strokes and I feel like a better rider on the 2strokes but the 350 is a lot more forgiving. Really only you know what works best for your style and what you want in a bike.

If you want to be faster and get better results then the 350. I'm not really sure why you would want the 250 besides it sounds way cooler. I've ridden and raced both.

We are here to help you problem solve.

Get the 350 and then go get a used 2 stroke and have the best of both worlds!

Yes. That is basically what I decided. I kept the 350, sold my 250f and bought a 125 for fun (and to race here and there). The 350 is tough to beat as an overall race bike. And having a 250 or 125 2stroke for when you have the urge to ride a 2stroke. Plus it keeps the hours off of the 350.
