What would it take for any of the big 4 to rerun a classic vintage bike, say a 1976 Honda Cr 125 or a 1980 YZ 125 and what would the cost be for them to profit from them ? plus we could use some spare parts (hint, hint)

When government starts getting stuff done and uniting people you then have a 1% chance that Honda gives a shit about a two stroke.

Would be cool, SE and Mongoose have done reissues of classic bike with little update where possible. I picked up a Kos Kruiser, as I had in ‘82. Can’t see MX bikes being feasible though. A nice new YZ465 would be nice though.

Anything is buildable but when it comes to manufacturing, the cost is directly tied to quantity you want to manufacture. How many do you think would sell, 25? At that level it would cost a fortune per unit.

I was always curious about a similar idea for muscle cars, Like if Chevy came out with a brand new 1970 Chevelle but with a modern engine and modern suspension and brakes. Seems like it would be pretty popular item, especially at the muscle car peak 10-20 years ago. I assume they are smart enough to have looked into this and decided it wouldn't be popular enough to make money from.

Just restore the bikes that have meaning to you. It’s fun and very rewarding.

I would think most of the tooling is long gone, so that would all have to be recreated, which wouldn't come cheap. My guess is that it would end up close to the cost of current two-strokes.

with modern tooling capabilities I wonder how much more or less expensive tooling up would be.

The challenge is to build up an old bike as you would have wanted it. Very Rewarding.
