Three mains is my most likely guess! Thumbs up. The starts are by far the most interesting part of the race.

It's impossible for a corporation or government to love you or care about you.

So make a weak 20 minute race even weaker? I guess being in shape has not much to do with sx anymore, not that 20 min was hard anyway.

I don’t know who proposed it, but I’m 100% for a 2 row start. It rewards qualifying and semis, and makes sure that the top guys are all going into the first turn at the same time.

Washed up moto and enduro weekend warrior.

I'm curious to hear what they're going to officially call the 3 race format. "Monster Cup style format", "3 Main Event format", "Better Hope You're a Good Qualifier format" ????

Positively, absolutely 110% obsessed with anything MOTO.

The Thunderdome Finals in Las Vegas!

I ripped a start from Egypt and I was happy about that.

Jeez I hope so. The current, heat 1 and 2, semi 1 and 2 lcq are so confusing to non moto people. I have sat next to people in stadiums that actually bought tickets and are lost as to what is actually going on. You just can't have that.

I'm glad the semis are going, but id also like to see it go back to laps. IMO, there was more racing and less "trying to survive" and typically by 15 mins/laps, the racing is basically non existent.

Moto needs to stay core. No outsiders allowed... if you dont know what is going on then you shouldnt be in the seats.

Bring back air cooled engines, dual shocks, 1 month delayed coverage, orange helmets and numbers that you earned the year before.

Big rumor going around about about starting gate grates. tongue

A good read on the history of the subject over at MXA.

Amen to that!
I've been saying that for a while now.
We're the only form of motorsport that really doesn't reward the fastest qualifiers in any meaningful way.
Gate pick is highly overrated. How cool would it be for the 10 fastest guys to get out front together every race?

I've always believed SX is too start dependent.
It seems to happen almost every race, one or more of the slower riders get lucky with a good start. Only to hold up the faster guys from getting to the front to challenge the leader. Then when the finally get around the leader is gone.

Get the fastest guys out front together!

I just don't think the start should be so important.

Having the top riders start out front together is a recipe for boredom. There will be less passing if that were the case. They will sort out by lap time capability and just run laps slowly separating themselves more and more.

Unpredictable results is what you should be after. That is the reason for a start gate in the 1st place which in theory gives all an even chance. I would propose the other direction, that we go back to gate pick by random lottery. The best riders always make it to the front no matter where they start, the cream rises. Having 3 starts is even more opportunity for random results. I have no interest in watching 17 reruns of the same thing.
