Hi, all,

I thought the community here would enjoy this article I just finished for my website wewentfast, which is a sort of 'privateer' effort, if you will.

https://www.wewentfast.com/2018/04/05/chad-reed-against-the-current/

At the Tampa Supercross, I spent the day with Team CR22 and then interviewed Chad and his wife the following morning at their house. My goal was to profile Reed and help better better understand why/how he still has the desire to race professionally at 36 years old.
To do that, it's important to understand where he comes from. Beware: this is a 7,000 word read.

Enjoy.

One of the best stories I've read in quite some time. Moto or other. Good job.

Awesome story.

One of my favourite sections:

As if the sting from not being able to go to America wasn’t enough, his high school math teacher always told him he was dreaming when the subject of racing came up. “You think you’re going to go out and do what Jeff Leisk did?” Mr. Rumford would ask Reed. He was a motorcyclist and remembered Leisk’s accomplishments, which included several podium finishes in AMA Supercross and runner up in the 1989 FIM 500cc World MXGP championship. “I remember looking at him and saying, ‘No, I’ll be better,’” Reed said. After a few years of racing in the United States, Mr. Rumford sent a letter of apology to Reed.

That there is journalism. How it's supposed to be done. Written in an almost forgotten style about a racer that did it "old school". You don't have to be a 22 fan to appreciate that story. If like me, you are a fan of Chads....then you got a real kick out of this article. Great job sir.

Wow. Thank you for the kind words. Be sure to sign up for the newsletter so you don't miss a post. I only send out newsletters when I have fun articles like that go up.

--- And... it looks like my subscription footer got wiped out in a website update. FML. I'm new at this running-a-website thing. Stay tuned.

One of a kind... Journalism in moto is missing this. You found in my opinion the best person to real in everyone. Chad has eluded to these things. Kudos
