New 110

3/26/2020 5:32am Edited Date/Time 6/1/2020 4:19pm
I’ve been tossing around the thought of picking up a 110 for a few years. But with work, buying a home and life, it’s been put on the back burner. As of right now, I’m lucky enough to still be working, so once this horrible situation subsides, I think it’s time to pull the trigger. I’ve been going back and forth between the TTR-110 and the new CRF efi model. Has anyone had experience with the 19-20 CRF’s? I’ve read that the oil temp sensor is at the bottom of the cylinder and easy to break. No kids, so this will strictly be a bike for me to bomb around on in the trails, and mods wouldn’t be more than the average bolt ons available for both models. If anyone here has either bike, what are your thoughts?

I just picked up CRF125 and rode also TT-125 a few weeks back. The EFI makes a big difference how smooth and clean the engine pulls, so I would definitely buy the CRF for that reason only.

TTR has more power still. CRFs are good and efi is an awesome feature especially for kids. My preference is a ttr the low end torque is that more noticeable

Honestly, I'd suggest the KLX110L. The only thing you would "need" to do is rejet it and ride it. Then you can start wasting money modifying it! LOL

I have a '19 CRF110, only ridden it in backyard tracks (with not much for jumps) but it runs great! Only thing I have done so far is put wider bars and full size throttle tube and grips on it. Going to add a longer shifter with folding tip and some wider foot pegs next. Going to add a skid plate too and may need some stiffer springs once I start jumping it.

I’ve got the new CRF with the same intentions as you, just something to mess around with and more importantly, keep me grounded. I tore my ACL and can’t afford another injury at this point in my career so it was a nice compromise.

No clutch makes it perfect to also introduce my wife into riding. A taller Guts seat and BBR suspension set it up perfectly for me.

We went with the Honda's. Frame and EFI were the selling points over the Yamaha and Kawasaki. The other 2 are great, but for our needs, the CRF was a no brainer. If I was going to get a different brand, I'd look into YCF.

Found a great deal on a leftover new 18 CRF110 last fall to ride with a couple buddy’s. Both of them have the new 2019’s w EFI. After a few moto nights I hopped on one of there’s...instantly regretted getting the non EFI 2018. Sold my 2018 right before winter for $200 less than I paid for it. With plans of getting a 2019 or 2020 this spring. Only insight I have is that EFI vs NON is night and day when jumping tight little pitbike stuff. I’d have to keep momentum fully commit to send it so it doesn’t bog, while on my buddy’s I could set up and just kinda pop over stuff out of the corner more in control.

I would think a good skid plate would take care of the oil sensor issue?

My buddies picked up 4 CRF's and a KLX within the last two weeks so I had to see what I was missing. The CRF is so smooth and pretty torquey with the fuel injection. I do feel that the KLX was a little faster on the top end. The CRF ergonomics seemed a lot better to me, I kept feeling like I was going to go for a ride over the bars when trying to corner the KLX hard. The klx does sit slightly higher. There isnt a ton of aftermarket for either right now.

Appreciate the input guys! Hopefully I’ll be able to pick one up sooner than later ! Might stick with the CRF. Now if they only they had HRC graphics for it...

About to install numbers/ graphics on ours, noticed LOTS of loose things after taking off the plastic, so you might want to check yours; electronics flopping about, etc.... We dig the bike though, EFI and electric start.... I guess ALL little bikes are made in China, Taiwan or India now ??

No idea what it’s equates to but it is the Mika Pitbike High Bend, so I think it’s the 50

With this being home quarantine stuff, and my son and I digging more and more of a "mini bike track", I want to find a more solid of a pitbike than my 1986Z50(I don't want to abuse this thing)... My brother inlaw has a 2017 CRF110 and I've put a decent amount of time on it. I'd definitely pick that bike up if I can find one.

That’s what I was thinking. I was reading one post that the guys son pancaked the skid plate and still broke the sensor.

I thought the same thing LOL. There are still plenty of aftermarket parts for KLX 110's.

I should have made that more clear. The OP was debating between a CRF and TTR. There are not a lot of options for those two models. Tons of options for the KLX.

I was thinking of cerakoting the covers that same color (burnt bronze?). How big of deal was it to remove?

Sounds like you made up your mind OP (CRF), but I would not recommend the TTR-110. We had one for a few years but there really isn't much aftermarket stuff available for it at all. Finally got rid of it this year and got a KLX110L (that someone else mentioned above). Mainly got the Kawi to make a mini version of my 19 KX450. Seems like a lot of guys are having a good time on the CRF pitters though, I wouldn't mind having one of those either.

took the advice of several posters here last year and got a klx140l. think the size is so much more fun than a 110, but i'm 6'2 so could be why.

if they update with efi (or honda updates the 150 to have efi & loses 50 lbs), i'll upgrade.
