Need new boots. Replacing OLD Tech 8s

Im looking to replace my 20 year old Alpinestars Tech 8 boots. I've really liked these boots and was wondering what is the cheapest model Alpinestars now that would be close to these. I don't need better, since I don't ride much like I used to. I do want something fairly comfortable though.

Tech 7. Or try to find the old version of the Tech 10 for sale somewhere!

Astar still makes the tech 8, however it can be pricier than the previous version of the tech 10's. I would recommend the tech 7, or find a good used pair so you're not paying retail for new, if you dont ride much.

Astar quality has definitely diminished over the past couple of years. If you are open to trying another brand, let me know. I have a lot of gently used items on www.usedmxboots.com and also have Astar as well.

I bought a brand new pair of tech 8s on ebay a couple years back. An older guy had purchased them when they came out because he liked his first pair so much, but never wore out the first pair enough to justify using the second pair. I got them at a great price because they were the previous generation. At the time that I was looking, there were other sets out there. If you know what you like, stick with it!

Skinny feet? Sidi Crossfires.

Fat feet? Gearney SG 10's or 12's

Or, if you are dead set on the Alpinestars and don't want to spend the money for the higher end boots (Tech 10's, or Sidi Gearne's...) the Tech 7's are great!

I have the Sidi crossfires and a pair of Alpinestar Tech 7's.

The Tech 7's feel like sneakers when I wear them around. But because they aren't hinged, if feels weird to ride in them. The Sidi's are way comfortable as well (maybe not quite as comfy as the Tech 7's though), but feel so much better on the bike. So I find myself never wearing the tech 7's. So they are basically brand new sitting in the garage, and I'm on my third set of soles on the Sidi Crossfire 2's (I got the SRS boot and just order new soles from Rocky Mountain...totally love it).

I just purchased some Tech 7’s also. I think they were around 370.00. Feel super comfortable but haven’t rode with them yet. I’m also coming off of 20 year old Tech 8’s.

I'm a big fan of Sidis. Super comfy, perfect fit, and they I find the protection to be first rate.

Just ordered a pair of fly sector boots (tcx but fly bought them) from chaparral for $160 with tax and free shipping. Gonna be my first pair but from what I’ve read and heard from others, they are a great quality boot and for that price because they’re on closeout it’s a steal.

I was running the last version tech 8s black and red back in 2009, I really liked them but someone stole em. I ended up with a pair of Gaerne Reacts which I thought were very similar in feel and for the price they were an awesome boot. I also ran the sg12s but they are to wide if you have skinny feet, I grabbed a pair of tech 10s from BTO for like $380 and the fit and feel on those are awesome. If you know what you like though I'd stick with the tech 8s I miss those damn boots they rocked lol. Cheers ! Good luck boot shopping!
