Need advice on purchase of a bike *Edit* bike gotten

So a friend has a 2016 kx250f that is sitting in his garage and never gets ridden, has offered to sell it to me for $2500 (Australian).
My question is, what is everyone's experience with the 2016?
It will be used 80% time on track, 20 on single trail and bush riding.

I had great luck with my 15(same bike). 70 hours and the bike was perfect when I sold it and I used to rev the hell out of it.

Yeah I asked what the hell happened there.... He said he was drunk. I talked him down to $1300 Australian dollars. It has a full PC header and pipe too!

That looks like a great deal! Plastic is cheap. I wouldn't have even batted an eye about that.

Yeah whole motor rebuilt, top and bottom end.
Whole bike only has 45hrs on it.
He didnt want to sell, but also didn't have a choice.
$850 for a.2016 250f is more than a steal. I guarantee no one else has gotten one that cheap that isn't blown up 🤣

From 2.5k, which was a deal, to 1.3k (850 USD for a low hours 3 years old bike), while the bikes are usually a bit more expensive in australia, I would not have negotiated that much. I am sorry to say that but you low balled your friend way too hard and the bike just with new plastics is probably worth 3k. If he is rich and doesn't care, no problem if he gives you a present (some rich people also helped me sometimes), but if he really needs the money like you said he may not be bitter now but he may actually be bitter soon and for a long time (i have - had - some "friends" too that want to "buy" me parts 50% of what they are worth). Personnally i would make sure he is really ok and would not hesitate to give 500 more, you were anyway ready to give 2k. I am just trying to make sure you don't get sucker punched someday or get into unecessary troubles later.

Oh man he certainly did not care about the haggle in price, he needed to get rid of the bike more than needed the money. The sale was pushed through quickly so he had more $$ for his holidays. I have also said to him that if he wants in the future let me know and I am happy to give him more for the bike. I haggled him down as the bike could use some new bars, plastics and a few other things to really make me happy.

Yeah so no problem. Money for holidays is not a primary need and it happens quite often that some people just want to get rid of something. I was just trying to make sure you would not be in a drunk discussion later like "bla bla i gave you my bike bla bla " and possibly "i want it back" after you invested some time and some coins to make it better.
