I am going in for a follow-up on Tuesday, but no matter how that turns out I want a second opinion. I suffered a fairly complex wrist fracture (comminuted intra-articular distal radius fracture with radialulnar joint disruption). I came up short on an unforgiving triple. I managed to get my feet forward on the pegs and pin it, but my right arm was too rigid and the hit crushed my wrist. I did ride it out, not that it did me any good...
What all that clinical jargon means is the following:
*I crushed/compressed my distal radius
*fractures extend through joint articulation surfaces
*a substantial area of the joint surface which allows the ulna and radius slide against each other (when you twist you hand) is busted off.
From the standpoint of difficulty in treatment this is a tough one... Of the four categories of wrist fractures this one is a Cat 4.
Does anyone have experience, or know of someone that has experience, with a good hand/wrist surgeon anywhere in California? This is not a job for a general orthopedic surgeon... I want someone with experience performing procedures on complex DR fractures. One name I came up with is David Slutsky in Torrance, CA... however, I would like to have a first person reference. With all the pros, and aspiring pros, based out of Southern California, there must be a few surgeons in the area that are known within the industry as being go to guys for difficult wrist fractures.
Any recommendations/testimonials are much appreciated....

Hope someone can help you out with that

He has don't some work on Rick Johnson and some other top riders in the past.
I know of Ting...great all around sports ortho...but I need a wrist specialist....
I highly recommend this place. They have great specialist for all parts of the skeleton. I have had two fusions here that saved me from a life of pain. They repaired a botched fusion from Dr. Watkins in LA who was supposed to be the best. My daughter just had a surgery on her ankle (scoped and tendon repair / 12 yrs old.) It is better than new after 3 months. Last, a family friend who is a retired neurosurgeon chose this place for his spine fusion and hip replacement.

It does not look that bad, but the fragment at the radial ulnar joint is the real problem. Busting things up in this area is not good...
I have no experience with him, but he is very active in the ktmtalk "Injuries - Riders down but not out" forum.
