I am in need of some help in finding a white fuel tank for an RM250 2008 (stock capacity) like the one that was used on Travis Pastranas white Cernics RM250 below.

I have contacted IMS, Clarke Mfg. and even Cernics Suzuki to try an find a tank but the closest tank that I am able to come across is an oversized (3.4 to 3.7gal) model in Natural, no luck with Acerbis or UFO as well.

Maybe I need to just man up and have an aluminum tank created?

I will post some pics of my latest build shortly as it is coming along quickly and turning out sweet!

Thanks in advance...

It was stated that Pastrana's tank was actually painted.

I've heard of people dying their plastic in an attempt to change its color. I think I read about it in a thread on "all things moto".

Not sure about the procedure and results though....

You might get some result with Rit on a darker color. I can't see white working.

Still unable to find the white option for the tank so I guess that I will need to go with the painting route. Are there any suggestions on the proper prep and paint for a plastic tank?

I am also still open to the idea of an aluminum tank if anyone knows of someone capable without breaking the bank.

Sure was easier to find the white tank for the YZ that I put together and sold last year...

I own a paint shop and I can guarantee you that painting a plastic tank on an MX bike will not last. First of all, paint does not like to stick to that type of plastic, and second........ the fuel vapors permeate through the plastic and will blister and bubble the paint no matter what you do. There is no sealer or primer that will keep that from happening after a short while. Remember how our graphics used to bubble up on our plastic tanks? Same thing..............

A guy in the UK paints tanks successfully but he seals them inside first.

www.mxrestoration.com .Brian is in New York, has painted many a tank, 2 for me personnally....I had 2 yellow Montesa tanks painted white about 2 years ago...still perfect. It is suggested to drain the fuel from the tank after the days ride.
