Any of you guys remember ol' Eric Eaton? I was just going through some of my old 84' Washougal national pics , and wondered where the hell he took off to? Anyone know? I used to have his Jersey from that year #44 , and someone snagged the fuggin' thing! I still have Phil Larson's though #62 i got the next year.

For those of you who don't know who Eric Eaton was....He was a 500cc Privateer who finished 2nd in points at the end of the year between Broc Glover for 1st and David Bailey for 3rd! He would of been 3rd in points i think if David didn't move down to the 250cc class to help out a team mate.....Think it was Jonny O'.

Phil and Mike both were two of my hero's when i was growing up. I went and met Phil one day ( thinking 83' or 82') and he was riding for factory Honda. He was super cool to me and talked to me for a while. Couple years later , i ran into again and he gave me his Jersey! I didn't wash that thing for a couple years. Mike raced the nationals for a long time as well , and used to just totally mop up the VET stuff back in the day! Funny watching two guys in the +30 class battle for the win between him and Rick Ryan......then to have them both go out and spank the shit out of all the younger pro's in the 125 and 250 classes!

BTW.....thanks for the info on Eric Eaton! I'm glad he's still in the industry in some way. Definitely one of my child hood hero's!

Hey man, I take offense to that. I was one of those pros that Ricky Ryan spanked.

No Problem, Northwest European Cycles is the shop name and he has been into ralley cars for years (way before Pastrana made it popular). Eric is a cool guy and most people don't know what a bad ass he was! I know he rides with Lance Smail some and I will try to get a few pics of him riding. A Matthes pod cast with him would be cool (the saddle back jump, 1985 500 run, 86 win at Washougal)...

HOW ABOUT ERIC HALL AND JIM ANDERSON ??
Eric Hall retired in 1989ish after he hurt his knee in a Micky T ultraX up in Seattle.
After that he went to work for full time for his brother Brian who owned Pro-Caliber and worked there til Brian sold his shop to Jason Hannah.
Last time I seen Eric he was still living in Camas like 5 years ago or so,working for some heating/air conditioning company or some shit like that just doing his own thing.

Eric was one of the first guys to jump the famous double jump at Hawkstone Park, England when he rode GP's back in the 1980's That jump was made famous in the shot of Georges Jobe soaring over Andre Malherbe by photographer Nick Haskell.

HOW ABOUT ERIC HALL AND JIM ANDERSON ??
Eric started racing again last summer. He is fast as ever, cleaning up in the 40+ Expert class at PIR / TNMX.

Last I heard he was working full time for the Huffmans building / maintaining the Washougal track.

Kevin Jansen is also still doing good in the 40+ expert class.

I remember watching these guys when I was a kid. Eric is actually about 5 years younger than me, I remember he had a RM 80 with a chrome tank on it. I was a top level 250 intermediate rider and Eric would ride in our class on his 80 and routinely smoke us.

Some other names I remember, Mark Gregson, Brian Hall, Barney Newman (fast on a Montesa!),

Tim Mikaletch (spelling?) and of course Chuck Sun and Rick Burgett. Monty sumthin'erother on a Maico ......

Lotta fast guys in them thar woods!

Anybody ever ride at a track that was in central Washington called Sun Target? Huge Euro GP type track that was blast. My dad took us riding there a few times and once John Banks was there on a CCM "John Deere Replica" 4 stroke. (probably around 1977 or 1978. He walked all over every Open Class 2 stroke in the Pro class, and this is an open class track that has a one long hill that is probably an 1/8 mile long. I remember he would pass people up that hill. let off so they would l pass him back and then he would finish them off at the top!

The sound of that thing, had me hooked on 4 strokes from then on! Ofcourse, it would be over 20 years before those childhood fantasies came true.......

Man , I just thought of something. I won't be picking up my new 450 for probably at least a month or two....but a lot of us should get together for a NW Vital ride day of some sort. Maybe go hit one of the practice days at Woodland or something. Washougal is always so packed......it would be tough to kind of keep a group together. That would be a blast!

Dawn Piazza, now Dawn Stob. She's my sister. Lives in Vancouver and still rides. She's so fast!

Go to my video page and watch "Let's Ride Part 2". She's in there practicing at Mountain View.

Dawn's on Facebook and so is Eric Hall. He lives at the Washougal track in Washougal, WA, I believe. Still riding.

I knew Doug Lange way back when he was on 80's ,my family and his family were friends and we used to pit together .
Last I had heard of Doug, Darren Currier told me he seen Doug at PIR a few times, back around 2001ish.

Also, anyone remember Brett Woodring?
He was fast also....
