It looks like Leatt just became it's own competition. With it's new "entry level" brace. at $195 It might just hold on to a good chunk or the market it has created.

You gotta hand it to Leatt - what they lack in engineering, they make up for in marketing and legal manipulation.

I hate to even ask, but what do you know about a lack of engineering? I looked at the simulations that they ran and the testing that they have published on their site and I'm just curious - exactly what testing and analysis would you have Leatt perform to satisfy your inquiring mind?

Working for Leatt or just curious?

Again, another neck brace posting. I need to go out and through one together. Hell, I could sell it for $150 and own the market. No real proof needed that they work, just people's feeling that they do.

And speaking of the testing, they only show how it limits neck movement. I don't doubt that this helps but it does nothing to talk about the forces compared to real world motocross. Thats all I am saying.

Nope - no connection with Leatt, but I am engineer who has done quite a bit of work in the area of safety equipment - mostly in the four wheel sports.

I just get tired of people bashing something new without bothering to understand what is going on - is the Leatt the best thing out there - I don't know, but at least they are trying and from an engineering perspective I believe their concept is valid and a good start on preventing sci's.

Once again, how would you like them to test the real world forces - are you volunteering to let them instrument your spinal cord and have you face plant time after time with and without the brace. At some point we have to realize that trying to get quantitative real world information isn't practical and that the best we can hope for is the simulations and test we can run provide a reasonable engineering basis for saying the product works. I can assure you that the Hans device, which I am sure provided the inspiration for the Leatt, wasn't strapped to a driver and crashed into a wall to evaluate it's effectiveness but yet is viewed by the majority of the auto racing community to be effective and necessary.

Probably the one designed by a neurosurgeon and tested in the lab by BMW.

The braces don't exist. Nor does the one that EVS is promoting. They do not exist. Nobody has seen one, neither one. No shop nor mailorder has them or has seen them. EVS's web site doesn't even have theirs on there. It's a freakin' marketing ploy. Could be months if ever that these braces are available.

I'm just happy that I didn't pay $169 to a mail-order for a EVS brace that was going to take 3 months to get, maybe it was 6 months. If I order a EVS brace will I receive it before X-mas? What a joke.
