From here in San Diego you can ride Pala, Milestone, Glen Helen, Perris, Cahuilla, The Ranch and Lake Elsinore without driving more than 2 hours. And, if you can handle desert heat in August, you can make Ocotillo Wells in about the same time frame (lots of Crusty/ Terrafirma footage is from there.) Glamis or Buttercup are a little farther away, but worth checking out, at least as you drive past - deep, deep sand as far as the eye can see. If you are coming west on 20 I think it merges with 10 somewhere in Texas, and then you'll probably veer off on 8 west if you're coming to San Diego. You'll go right through the sand dunes pretty quickly after you enter California.

Nice track havent been back in 10yrs or so, last time I raced some fuckin kook landed on me on the finish line jump. It used to be a single right out the corner and you had to seat bounce the hell out of the finish table. Kook in 3rd was cross jumping trying to keep 4th from passing . Bad timing on my part to miss a gear, come up short and the next thing I know I'm on the ground. I didn't know WTF had happened as I was the only mofo on the ground. Made half a lap and had to go to the ER. Cracked Elbow and bruised shoulder blade.

I just got back from training with the Ryno at (starwest) Lucas Oil Offroad Park, it's worth checking out. Unless you are not comfortable with doubles right out the corners.

Easy access to this:

Swans MX

An hour off 20:

River Valley

Several other places to consider. Three Palms may be nice, but it's a long ways out of your way.

I know Bremen is off I 20 but isn't Aonia also? Once into bama you have Millcreek that's a couple miles at most off I 20 in Pell City, AL. Question is catching all these tracks open during the week. Good luck and have fun.

I forgot about AMP but Bodieg is correct. Monster is a blast and they are open ALOT during the week. At least they used to be.

Great Tracks Near DFW (TX) that aren't too far from I20, depends on what day you come through our neck of the woods. Yantis/Johnsonville (awesome dirt and flowy!), Underground (national caliber training track), Athens (reopening this weekend, sandy, small and fun), Village Creek (busy, fun, slight harder pack), River Valley (always awesome dirt and watering, watch out for kickers and ruts on the lips!), Oak Hill (amateur national quality), Buffalo Creek (haven't been in a while but used to be good) plus others. We really have so many options you can have a whole thread on the DFW area alone!

Mill Creek is good, bur rarely opens except for races. Monster Mountain is worth the 2 hour drive south.

Also post up when you are out here/ready to ride in CA. I ride Pala or somewhere around SD almost every weekend with a fun group of dudes (ranging from novice to pro).

thanks for the input guys, I'm going to try to ride my usual spot, www.clubmx-sc.com tomorrow, then head down to monster mt. then to the fort worth texas area to moto one of the tracks mentioned above(depends on what day I'm passing thru).

After that I plan to do some mt biking, road biking, and enjoy the journey.

I'll keep you all posted and pictures
