The Iowa Department of Transportation is making preparations to close the east- and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 in eastern Iowa.
The closure is tentatively scheduled for Friday afternoon, June 13. The roadway is expected to remain closed for approximately two to three days. The closure is flooding related.
Flood waters are expected to overtop the east- and westbound lanes of Interstate 80 at milepost 266 in Cedar County, just west of the Iowa 38 interchange (exit 267).
The planned detours for through traffic are as follows.
Westbound Interstate 80 traffic: Take the Iowa 38 exit (number 267). Go north on Iowa 38 to U.S. 30. Then go west on U.S. 30 to Cedar Rapids. Then go south on Interstate 380 to Interstate 80 at Coralville.
Eastbound Interstate 80 traffic: Take the Interstate 380 north exit at Coralville (exit 239). Go north on Interstate 380 to U.S. 30 in Cedar Rapids. Go east on U.S. 30 to Iowa 38. Then south on Iowa 38.
The Iowa DOT will be monitoring the highways along the detour route for any unexpected flooding problems. In the event that it is necessary to alter the route, travelers will be informed.
Local traffic will be allowed to use Interstate 80, as well as its entrances and exits, between Interstate 80, exit 265 (Atalissa interchange) and Iowa City. Traffic will not be permitted beyond the 265 and 267 exits.
The Iowa DOT is anticipating heavy traffic, congestion and delays on the detour route. Therefore, the department strongly suggests the following as a way to reduce problems in the area during this critical time.
Regional and coast-to-coast commercial motor vehicle operators that do not need to make a stop in Iowa should consider a route that avoids the state.
Iowa residents should avoid travel on the detour roads, if at all possible.
Commercial vehicle operators that cannot avoid the area should NOT use the county roadways as alternative routes.
For the latest updates on road conditions, visit www.511ia.org or call 511 in Iowa or 800-288-1047 outside the state. Due to the ever-changing water levels and today’s rain events, it is essential that motorists know whether the roadways they intend to use are available for travel. By using 511, the safety and convenience of travelers will be greatly improved, and congestion and frustration reduced.
The Iowa DOT recognizes the significant inconvenience this closure presents and will reopen the roadway just as soon as the waters recede and any necessary repairs are made.

Man, I'll never forget watching Dungey ripping his RM125 around that place SOOO fast!
Good Luck to everyone going and your kids too!!!
Pit Row
The track in LF is very nice, with a variety of terrain and a concrete starting pad. Some deep sand after the start, then turning into semi hard packed sand and dirt. There are lots of fun and fast sweeping straights as well as fun and safe big air jumps. The finish is kind of hokey, but works.
Camping and parking is good as well.
Robert does a nice job of getting the race day completed along with listening to rider input.
Good luck to everyone and stay safe.
He got hurt about half way through the first moto after he had alreadycrashed once while in 5th and the front brake got a rock stuck in between the lever and perch (freak deal). got back up last and rode a couple corners jumped a table, then launched a single and landed wheel first on a square edge braking bump going up a hump on the inside of the corner. The bike beat him into the hump, worst crash I've ever seen him have, and I've seen lots over the years! He got up limped of the track, bike was stuck wide open, crawled over and shut it off, crawed back off track.
I do have to say that that track had awesome flaggers and medics, I like that!
I didn't like the only 3 laps of practice saturday morning. Not everyone can make it to the friday practice session, some people have to work! So the 3 laps of practice on Sat morning was a joke.
Turn out was LOW, worst for any regional I've ever seen. Only four classes with full gates (MX Lites B Stock/Mod, MX B Stock/Mod)
Track looks fun! Its fast and rough! Cement starts suck, I mean really...
The place was decent and pretty well run but the drive sucked and the turnout was the lowest I have ever seen for a regional. Maybe a regional an hour away from Canada wasn't such a great idea.
Johnny was on it and I was especially impressed with his 2 stroke rides.
Lots of nasty getoffs including my kid who knocked himself out early on Sat. morning. The EMT's were great and after sitting out most of his moto's he sucked it up (his decision) and got third in the mx b mod.
Did I mention concrete starts suck.
Of course i was there!
I agree so far north was dumb.
The dad joey came with helped them put it together too....pretty cool people, they invited Joey to Peru to race. I think his dad is the head of the FIM in that area
Anyone want to sponsor a kid for schoolboy 2 and mx b mod for LL.? LOL
