Thanks Tony! But, I'm gonna lean towards the 525. I never rode one, but I dug the look of the tank, as it indeed had a "works" look to it. My son had 2 of the KTM 50's that year, and I liked the look of the entire lineup. I can only imagine how strong your personal one ran..... what a beast!

I have to agree with Tony on the best looking KTM but I also have to agree with Matthes, if it’s good enough for Bo Wiggins, it’s good enough for me.

I had a 1996 250EXC in the orange and purple. I also had a 2002 380SX in orange and black. I think the white and red were the best looking followed by Grant Langston's factory orange.

I always thought the '86 KTM 80 looked cool when I was a kid, but when I just looked it up on Google...yeah, not so much anymore.

I thought that was sexy as hell at the time. Its a shame MC didnt get to race it to his potential.

Matthes has an archived interview where MC declares that model was certain death. He hated it.

You notice I said to "his" potential, not "its", LOL! Yeah, he checked out after that one.

The 2005 ktm 250sxs 2st that Marc De Reuver rode was such a sexy looking bike. I just wish there were pictures of it.
I also absolutely love the 2004 sx125 of Ryan Hughes.

As for the stock bikes, it doesn't get any better than the 04-06 shape - the sharp angled bodywork makes for a lovely aggressive racer look. The very latest ones, imo, are utterly awful.

Lance was on the track with the 550, why watch anything else? Torque Daddies, worse forks ever😮

A Katoom hero.

The cylinder head is like a compensation masterpiece, like a lifted truck.😀 Everyone comments on the length of that baby.😂

Hence, my old girl.

Ugliest collection of bike's I've ever seen. Best looking KTM is a Husqvarna.

Husky's legacy of oddball, ugly-duckling looking bikes is nearly unparalleled.

Maybe you are thinking about the 87. Coolest 80cc by far until the kx big wheels with upside down fork in 92 if I remember well, then the 93 yz.

These WP forks were really popular on the CR for the top riders, maybe Pichon, and Bolley I am sure.

The picture comes from here:
https://pulpmx.com/2017/09/23/gps-classic-steel-1987-80cc-shootouts/

EDIT : I saw this bike once or twice in Germany, on a sandy track at the French frontier (the day of my first time on a kx 60), and unfortunately the kid had some electrical issues, which is a reason why KTM didn't have a good reputation at that time. It all changed around the years 2000, firstly with the rallye then with the 125 that had a very powerful engine.

Back in 06 I built a throwback 85 SX. I always wanted one back in 86/87 even though they didn’t get good reviews in the magazines.

I've owned and raced several KTM's since 1979. I don't care for the orange ones, even though the one in my garage is orange. (Disclaimer: Other survey's, opinions, and results may vary)

The best looking KTM ever....... Pic 1.

The next best......Pic 2

Honorable mention in the looks department, although clearly number 1 in the fun department.

Finally... the 1981 twin shocker is the best looking Kato ever made.
