The first two comments totally crack me up. I had a 91 mint KTM 300 and my son is currently racing a pink TM. I think they both have such odd colors that they are really cool!

Looking at the OP post as presented #1 2001 Husaberg, it was a ripper #2 had this in a 125 and a 250, loved that bike, #4 Another great bike and I still have it #6 Another bike that ripped! #8 84 or so KTM really didn't like this bike. Ugly never really entered my mind on any of these that I owned.

The first few years the KTM's went orange/butterscotch are at the top of my list.

So many cool looking bikes in that list. To me the 2000 Husaberg was one of the coolest looking dirtbikes ever made. I really want to own one. It’s a shame that it’s almost impossible to find one in good shape and with the babyblue tank intact

The bone stock 1992 RM250 was a hot bike. I remember at the time that we laughed it a little bit, but we got over that fast and really started to like it. All the colors on bikes and gear and graphics were blowing up in '92 and that bike was the peak of it. I love it to this day.

I'm at work and haven't watched the video yet but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If we're talking about the graphics and seat cover of the 91 RM I agree , ugly . But I love the bodywork of the 89 - 92 RMs . Honorable mention on this list to the 79 RMs with their duckbill fenders...sorry mud guards

You take that back right now!

I loved the '91 and '92 once the side panel and fender graphics were removed, which most people did before leaving the dealership.

blazier, growing up in the same era...I love your content. Really.

That said, just a request for more of a "blog post" type format. I'd love to scroll through and check out all the images and the rankings and chuckle and reminisce...but watching a 30m video makes that tough.

but again, thanks for all of your posts - really dig them!

I do exactly that over at PulpMX.com. Most of my videos have a written companion article over there if you would like to check them out.

How could the '81 Hondas not be on this list? Like most of the "transition" bikes of that era, the manufacturers made lots of stumbles in the looks department, and things didn't get cleaned up from a cosmetic point of view until the mid-80's. The "swayback" '80 Maicos were grotesque, and the numberplate mounted radiators of the early waterpumper Yamahas were a joke.

And I agree with racerhansen that the Husaburg was a thing of beauty - even if it wasn't, that it was basically a coach built bike blazing new trails means it was owed a lot of respect.

Finally, in stock trim the Aprilia was truly butt-ugly, but if you remove the front fender/ number plate monstrosity and the flappy side plates, it actually doesn't look bad. The trick ladderbar frame was pretty cool and the rest of the design reflected some Italian fashion integrated into and around the very functional V-2 engine package. Here's one with a '98 XR 400 front fender and old school, Maico style side plates - and some old geezer riding it...

Just a heads up, your signature link to your website is missing the ‘T’ on vault and the link is dead. Wink

Never cared much for the RM’s back when they were new, but the oversized shrouds have a certain appeal
these days

You can put the current generation of husky on that list for me. Which is a shame because I love the bikes.
