Just focus on your body position, technique, and corners then the speed will come

that is awesome bud. i went back to a 125 this summer. pretty much like motokawi said, technique and cornders, and it will come. it takes a few months, at least it did in my case.

i did the whole 4 stroke 450 thing, then switched to the 250 two stroke about 3 years ago and now all the way down to the 125. i must say it is the most fun of all the bikes and i am just as competitive with her as long as i don't make any mistakes.

below is a video of my buddy chasing me on his 450. you'll have to click or copy/paste, i am not sure how to embed.

Man after watching that I sure miss the days when I could just go out in the woods by my house and ride with my buddies. It has probably been nearly 20 years since those days. All the open spaces got turned into houses, golf courses, and strip malls.

first off, sweet bike.

secondly, you sit down too much. half those corners could be railed standing up. Smile most people spend too much time sitting on sand tracks. only time ur ass touches the seat is when you literally HAVE to.

Thats the only thing that stuck out to me, sitting down a lot. And I agree with my main homeboy Machine, your prob asking lesser riders for advice LOL

Long live the tiddler. I want to get my RM's motor done up by Eric Gorr eventually too.
Oh and don't ask these posers for advise.

Just have fun...I've always been a believer that the faster you go, your body will naturally want to get in the right position to allow you to do that. That will lead to standing up more and better technique.

Also sweet track.....my friends and I had a turn track similar to that, but like the others said our area got closed down and became a place for homes.

I know that this isn't a profound statement but going faster on a two stroke(especially a 125/144 or smaller) is better achieved once you get more comfortable with maximizing momentum. The four stroke riding technique is more of a "point and shoot" where as the 125's like sweeping, constant momentum lines. That just comes with time and getting more comfortable with switching your riding style. Looks like you are starting from a good base though. Nice video!

I have a 125 and a big bore and like the 125 way better. It is way smoother then my big bore and feels faster. But, that could be the way the motor is, if you can ge a nice smooth 144 or 153, do it. Ecspecially because your probably bigger than 170 pounds, so any extra CC would probably do you some justice . So in shorter terms, do it just ask for one that revs out and is smooth and I gurantee you will love it!!

yea im gonna send it to eric gorr...im 185lbs so im pushing it on the 125...if the tracks i rode were flat it would be one thing, its just both tracks around here have really steep uphills with big stepups..im sick of getting passed by guys who suck on 450s on the uphills only to come to a stop behind them in the corners...i just need it to get on the pipe a little sooner...

Just make sure it revs out, that is probably why I like the 125 better. But thats just me too. And check out this guy, he does amazing work. I have tried various motors and I like his the best by far!! Even over procircuit.

Exactly, and my motor revs to the moon, and then some, but keeps pulling! But has a nice strong and smooth bottom.

Ps. look at rider profiles and I'm in there Wink
