I'm digging this one! That makes most tracks today look like a freeway.

Loved some of the old fences. People actually respected them.

So cool, he was worshipped from up here in Eastern Canada.

Ironic that my two favourite racers ever had Suzook's with 7's on them at the end of their career.

Style, I don't need no stinkin' style.

This bike looks like it weighs about 80 lbs. I had an 81 YZ125, WITH LIQUID COOLING!

Some friends of mine know where the property is of the "Let Brock Bye" track . It's never been developed.
Yeah, that was the old Cyclerama track down on the southside of San Antonio. It was right across the street from a sewage treatment plant back in the day. If you type in Blue Wing Rd, San Antonio, TX into google maps it shows up right next to the tag on the map. The track is pretty grown over now but you can still see parts of it. It was a pretty neat place...once you got used to the smell!; had a flat rack as well. I was there that day in '77 filming the race on super 8 and had run out of film when the sign came out to "let Brock bye". I sent the tapes to Todd Huffman from "Motocross files"...don't know if he did anything with them. I remember after that race that Hannah said in an interview that "That was the worst track in the USA"...or something to that effect....the track closed down not too long after that. Good times!

These early water cooled YZ's were such piles of crap the Factory Team actually chose to run air cooled OW250's instead of water pumpers in SX.
Ask him about it....

"hated it"

1988 Southwick National

1978 Southwick National

One of the coolest things I ever saw was at Southwick in 1991, after the National. Hannah still worked for Suzuki and he took Coopers #1 125 out on the track and tore it up for a few laps. People were running on the track to cheer him on. It was an awesome sight. I miss those days..

for those who don't know Bob Hannah history..... this mud picture was taken at the 1987 Motocross Des Nations held at Unadilla. Hannah was in the later years of his career but still a solid rider. When they chose the US MXDN team, Hannah was not chosen but back then the fans voted to choose who the last rider was..... The fans voted Hannah onto the team. Back then there was a 125, 250 and Open sized bikes and even though It had been many years since Hannah had last raced a 125 that is where they put him.

It started raining but that did not dampen Team USA's spirits and as I recall Hannah was 1st or 2nd in 125 timed practice.

In the 1st moto Hannah got a mid pack start in the 500/125 moto but was on the move..... until the Screw U...... where it took Hannah 3 tries to make it up the hill... the mud was that bad! Hannah just put his head down and started charging until he passed all of the best 125 riders the world had to offer and held on to win the 125 class.
