We've killed the 125 class. I just watched parts 1-12 of the '96 Nationals. Not bagging on four-strokes or today's riders, but I don't think we've seen racing like this for a while.

This sport has had it.

It sounds like shit, smells like shit, and the money is shit, except for a few elite pros, and even then it is shit for the risk.

It really is kind of sad. Being a lazy bastard I love my four stroke, but I do miss those things singing the high notes under the expert throttle control of a specialist.

I do keep hearing of more and more guys swithching back to used two strokes, it's either quit the sport or step back to an affordable bike to own and maintain.

The good news is that there are a few years supply of quality used bikes out there (two and four strokes) to keep this sport cheap for those of us that don't need the latest greatest.
Stay off the consumer treadmill and moto is by far the cheapest motorsport available.

I've got two showroom condition bikes(when I bought them) for $3,500 total, 2005 CRF250 ($2,000)and an 2004 RM125 ($1,500) They've got several years of life left in them and they are still very competitive at the local level.

I'll get my 2010 model in 2015 Smile

Yep, killing off the 125 class was a crime against all things moto. Someone needs to go to prison. No one can argue that bringing back that class would be anything but good for the sport.

i went from a 125 two stroke to a 450 4 stroke nearly 5 years ago, having owned 3 crf450's and riding an '09 now i can honestly say i love the power and it is easier to go fast on. But, i had the chance to ride a PC prepped kx125 this past weekend and had an absolute ball. no i wasnt faster or even close to lap times as my 450, but i used way more body english to get the bike to go\hookup, etc and just had a ton of fun abusing it. i am now in the market for a 125 for a play\beater bike....just sayin.

At the Suzuki Top Gun Showdown at Muddy Creek this past weekend they had around 20 entries in the schoolboy 1 and 125 2 stroke am.

It was sweet, sweet music and the racing was awesome, both days.

All of the idoits that made the decisions that allowed the slow death of two strokes should be named on a list somewhere as enemies of our sport, then they should disappear, never to be discovered.

I think the 250 class that year was even better! Check out, Southwick and Milleville!

While searching through those old 2 stroke vids I couldn't help but come across this http://www.youtube.com/...sodU&feature=related lol. Who the hell is Dave Thomson?

I can see both sides of it. Ultimately we can only blame eachother, it's up to individual people to decide what they choose to go out and buy. Unfortunately (depending on how you look at it) it's the nature of the sport to seek out every possible advantage towards generating more speed. Once electric bikes get good enough and then eventually better than their combustion counterparts, almost everyone will be switching over to them and so it goes on. Aside from my 450, Iv'e still kept my very first bike, a YZ 125. Hope to get her running again next year.

Don't panic - not only do I have a plan - but I think we very may well might be having a TWO-

STROKE NATIONAL in Ohio next September.

So, cool your expansion chambers, mix up a cocktail in your Ratio-Rites and

chillax, my brothers and sisters.

Long live the braapness !

The RacerX Senior Series held a 125 two stroke only class at the Aztalan Cycle Club last month in conjuction of the senior series classes. 29 entries showed up for the class.

One moto format.

Must ride a 125cc two stroke

Must be over 35 any ability level A B C

Must have fun

Winner got a beer of his choice.

Next year will be a two moto format and I bet it will be a 40 man gate or bigger.

I sold my RMZ450 and bought a new Husky CR125, they come with a factory supplied 144 kit in the box. I'm really hesitant to put the big bore kit on it's so much damn fun to ride the way it is!

What's criminal is taking a kid who's raced on a 85cc 2stroke bike and his only option is going to the 250f 4stroke class, now that is just being lame at it's full potential.

I went from 80s to 250 and 500's for practice days, then racing 2 80 classes and usually 250 B and 500 B..

Whats the big deal?

Most kids (boys) don't grow until high school and it's a lot of power to move up to. The 125 was a good stepping stone from 85's to big bikes. Plus the difference in price from 85's to 250f's and the mods is ridiculous. Bring back the 125 2stroke and the sport will flourish again.

I picked up an '04 KX125 a couple months ago and have had a blast riding it. You have to be so much more aggressive on it. I love it. People ask why I went from a 250 2 stroke to a 125 2 stroke. I tell them it's mainly for the challenge and excitement. Then there are the ones that ask why I don't get a 450. I tell them I don't have as much fun on them as the 2 strokes. Screaming high rpm's = hair raising excitement. I'm getting out of riding/racing now and getting back into Hotrod's so it's for sale. My wife isn't happy. lol

I am proud to say i ride a 125 (:
nothin like shifting 1st screaming through fourth from a corner to a jump! replacing top ends, is the only downfall, but it's hella cheaper than a 250f!

Nothing sounds better then a gate full of 125's. Plus you actually had to nail the corners to clear the jumps back in the day. Im down with starting the list of the people who started the downfall of the 125 and no longer supporting those people. Lets make it happen.

heres the list.
Every buyer of every new yzf, crf, rmz, kxf, sx-f, or any other 4 stroke motocross bike.
the AMA and its rule makers
the FIM and its rule makers
the manufacturers and aftermarket.

Anyone else we should thank for making the sport we love louder, more expensive, and more dangerous?

That's a big list.

Once the list is finalized, where should the 40 or 50 copies of that list be sent to?Tongue
