Does anyone else think that? Matthes seems to be the only one that says what he thinks. But he and no one else gives any type of inside scoop. How do we still not know what really happened to JS/Brooks relationship? What about J-law? So many people ask about him and no magazine or website has caught up with him. I hate to bring it up but how in the world do we still not know what bike JS is riding in the summer. Why has no one done a test on neckbraces to see if they are actual safe for us? How about questioning FELD/AMA on some shady shit they do? Weege said during his DMXS interview that the media is suppose to keep everyone honest. Who or what magazine/website is doing that? From what I see and think is MX media is too busy being buddy buddy with riders and teams instead actually reporting news. Every MX website and magazine needs to realize is the teams/rider needs them because no one else is reporting about our sport.
Maybe J-Law doesn't want to be caught up with.
Maybe we don't 'know' what JS is riding this summer is because of little things like contracts & non-disclosures & confidentiality.
How do you test neck braces - where are the standards?
You're asking them to just make stuff up, I guess?
SWAP?....
The Shop
Standards for neck brace testing ? Exactly. There is none.
Just my thoughts on it.
That is about as unprofessional as interviewing gets IMO and I hear it all the time. What's next? You stick a mic in front of a rider and just say "talk" and they carry the whole interview? I mean, come on, think up a specific and intelligent question for crying out loud.
Done with rant.
When a reporter cannot earn a living reporting on his assigned sport, then relationships and confidentiality take precendence. For these guys, their first breaking story could be their last.
Reality is......it will be like this for a long time until the sport becomes more main stream. In the more main steam sports.....news comes out.....shit hits the fan and it's on TV on the same day. Here.....it could be a fucking decade before you hear about anything.
Fwiw.......I have gotten a lot of my inside info over the years from riders themselves. A lot of it is stuff I wouldn't ever repeat on a message board because I would like to keep those friendships alive. The reporters in this Biz think the same way......why burn a Friend to report something to the rest of the world? This is why you don't see to much of it I think. Once you burn that bridge.....the trust is gone.....you won't get shit afterwords......you might as well pack up shop.
There's a lot of good reporting coming right through Vital if you look past the forums...

As for the Brooks JS drama, I remember reading in MXA that when larry wants to talk they will cover it. My guess is that there is some kind of NDA that keeps him from talking.
You guys have to remember that the sport is so small that one of the manufacturers withheld test bikes because they didn't like hearing that their bike was a pile.
Kate Upton btw
On the other hand, one could also make the argument that political reporting is a joke, too, based on the sheer amount of shenanigans that take place in Congress that are either ignored or softplayed by the supposedly "real" journalists of the mainstream media.
