What's your take on owning multiple bikes?
I have had 1 bike at a time all my life. I'd ride it for a year or 3 then sell it and buy something different. Back in 2012 I built a YZ144 project bike that I love, but 125's wear out fast, so I built a YZ250AF to ride on so I can keep the 144 longer and ride something different whenever I feel like it. I enjoy riding both bikes, but sometimes I feel like riding a 450. Thinking about selling one of the bikes to pay for it, but I really like both and spent so much time and money on them that I can't see myself getting rid of them. I can't really afford a third bike at the moment. I don't like 250F's much so I figure that if I had all 3 I'd be set for a while. But I thought the same when I built the 250, so...
First world problems, I know.
Anybody owns many bikes so they don't feel like trading so often?

The Shop
I'm down to 1 right now but have typically had 2-3. Can't wait to buy another sometime this fall... But anyway, since you never get back what you put into them, I can totally identify with what you said. You spend your time and money getting them dialed in only to sell them and start it all over again - very frustrating. If you can afford it, keep them all.
I just bought a new travel trailer and am in the process of remodeling the house, so a third (and fourth, as I'm also considering getting a pit bike to ride at a friend's house nearby) are out of reach at the moment. I guess I'll have to be patient and hope my kids will enjoy riding so I can live my newfound passion working on their bikes...
Would look great parked next to those two? :
Personally i LOVE having multiple bikes. My setup or reasoning was to have a bike strictly setup for the track i.e. stiff suspension & brutal hard hitting power, then I would have the same bike/model possibly a year or two variation and the other nine would be for the hills or desert which I could set up to be softer and depending on where I would go riding would dictate which bike I was taking with me, that way I wouldnt have to mess with my settings and didn't wear out parts and tires on my track bike by riding in the hills
My stable has a GasGas EC200
The other ride is a YZ125 both are super fun....
Nice collection !
Pit Row
(Hi everybody, my name is Mr Bean and I'm a bike-a-holic.)
Look at it like this - it's MUCH cheaper than trying to afford 19 women.
Yup. (Even thought it is already looking great!)
To tease, a super light YZ super mini 105/112 from Loretta with tricks to make it higher will still be missing
Damn Newmann, that is a sweet collection.
It didn't hurt to practice on a 125 and race a 250 either.
500 cc Dual Sport, 300cc 2 stroke for offroad, big bore race bike for MX, trials bike for fun, road bikes (2)........my dream was to have a bike for any mood that comes up!
2002 xr100 restored fun for my little track at house
2002 yz 250 like new. Out of storage ready for action.
BBR crf 50 fun
Chinese 125 junk
I want to get on a 2 stroke again and the yz has 20 hours on it. Just raced Fl. Series on it and got on a 4stroker and put that in storage. It will be nice to have if my air forks go out from what I hear as well.
Big vintage nut here and our local vintage club would rent the track so it was just us and not just getting a couple of gate drops in the middle of 30 motos of modern bikes on a regular race day. We would have a small number of classes for modern bikes, aimed at the kids and vet classes to help cover the track rental costs. Both of my kids and I would ride vintage and modern classes so we always had six plus bikes with us at any given race. Talk about odd, climbing off a 74 CR250 and on to a YZ250F modern bike on back to back motos. Careful grabbing that front brake for the first time on the new one!
Fast forward and the kids have grown up, off to college, got married and the young one was on the school swim team swimming 6 days a week somewhere in the state of Texas every Saturday. No time for bikes for the last quite a few years. Young one graduated and joined the Marines so we've been playing catch up on my garage/shop project and some home remodeling we've put off the last ten years . Marine boy gets some time off in the next couple weeks and wants to go ride so I'll have to skip a work day and go have some fun before he heads off to Spain for six months to a year. Been working double time the last ten years as well trying to nail down something called semi retirement......almost there but about had enough of that too!
Bad side to restoring and racing multiple bikes? Multiple everything, tires tubes, chains six at a time, cases of oil, grips by the dozen, pistons by the six pack. Got to the point when things were winding down that when a bike shit the bed we would just park it and take another one out the next time. Eventually you end up with a bunch of broke bikes, and that's where I'm at now. You also eventually come to the conclusion that you no longer own them, they own you.
Gonna have to take some pics at the track here in the next couple of weeks with me holding a current newspaper so mxb2 will believe I was actually there!
