Trying to explain to a CrossFit coach how hard Moto is along with the training side. Looking for a video that floated around forever where they talk about intensity, heart rates, etc.

there is also the intro to one of the mx files videos i believe where Ryan Hughes explains the intensity, the physical, the mental and machine and why it makes moto so demanding... it’s pretty dramatic and over the top like Ryno can be but it’s cool. I can’t seem to locate that either so i’m sorry i’m not much help OP!

CrossFit is actually great for Moto. I’ve been doing it for years and I can’t remember last time I got tired while riding.

Explaining the physical demand of mx is virtually impossible to anyone not involved in the sport. I stopped trying to explain it a long time ago. I let them assume we slam Monsters and their favorite right fielder is in better athletic shape.

Easy. Takes 2min for us (or a national pro rider) to reach 95-98% of max HR and then we stay there for 20-35min depending on level and class.

Any trainer knows what that means.

Who here starts dry heaving at the end of a moto? When you taste vomit you know it was a good workout.

There used to be a crazy Heath Voss training video from back in the day. I can't remember if it was on RacerXVT or Transworld? I remember him doing some gnarly peg-board work.

Motocross is tough but those CrossFit guys are gnarly. Hard to say which is the toughest but I can last a lot longer racing than I can running.

Tell him it's like holding a jack hammer while riding a pissed off bull while being pelted with rocks and dirt, all while tight rope walking, oh and also your heart is beating out of your chest.

Not the vid you are looking for but Robb Beams (fitness guy) on the Whiskey Throttle show will enlighten your coach.
He talks about the issues of heat with all the gear. Have your coach do a CrossFit sesh with full Moto gear and 95+ heat.
