Well I'm taking the plunge into Event PromotionShocked . The accumulation of lessons learned on VitalMX over the years should spell certain doom. OK, let me have it for this shameless plug, but I'm seriously seeking input.

Judging from the gate times listed; 6 classes over 2.5 hours is 25 minutes per class in a perfect scenario. Probably more like 20? Two 20 minute motos ain't bad but I wouldn't pay $50 for it.

You're about right on the times, we'll make a judgement on the laps, likely 7 for the A/B riders targeting 20 minutes to the checkered. In cooler weather it will likely go 30 minutes each, that adds an hour to the schedule though.

$50 too much? Ride 1 Moto for $30 and call it a day?

We're likely adding another water pit and some plastic drainage pipe as Hard Sections. It is gonna be fun!

You don't have to do the hard stuff, but it'll be doable for a majority, Cody Webb isn't coming..

Hay Tyler! If you can fly in to the Austin airport, I'll have a certain Texas MX Hall of Fame Rider pick you up and drive you the 20 minutes to the track, and we'll go right past the COTA where they hold the MotoGP. After the race we can have BBQ in Lockhart, Bastrop or Luling, all about 15 miles from the Cedar Creek area. If you decide to bring your SUSZUKI you could also go to Spoaks MotorPark in Dale TX right down the road. Let me knowWink

Laps running around 2 minutes on the track, and about 3 minutes for the trail for a 5 minute C rider lap. Shooting for 20 minute Moto’s. Trail open Friday evening for practice, main track also open Saturday, Mini track included Sunday only.

Bring back Aqua Fest.
Riding an 81 CR125 as fast as you could through the streets of Austin was a blast.

They nixed it by the time I moved to 500s.
That would have been killer.

We had a fun time at the race, kudos go to Vitard AJ565 AJ Meade for winning his first race entered since ‘04! He went 2-1 almost winning them both against 419 Bill Gold the 2018 GNCC 55+ A Champion.

I was sitting next to you on the starting line. Those pictures came out pretty good for an iPhone too.


Pretty fun event. I had a tip over on the tires trying a different line so I didn't hit a downed lapper on the other side, needless to say it didn't work out for me lol. Pulled the hole shot both motos though. The second moto start was much better, but it's been 13 years since I've been on a starting line lol.

Thank you. He would close on me in the woods, but that's my first time ever riding in the woods so I was ok with that. I'd open it back up on the MX section. I think there was enough of both tracks to keep things pretty even.

So the feedback from everyone that was there was that it was a great time and I can’t wait to do it again. The problem is there weren’t very many people there. The goal was to have great seat time, a variety of track features to attract riders from different segments of the sport, and be done early. Moto’s ended up being around 25 minutes, the track delivered great action up close for the spectators, and we were done by 2 PM. It was a money pit for me. Maybe in the fall I’ll try to put a series together and give it another chance?

I had not planned on racing myself, but decided to at the last minute, it was great to get the cobwebs out and I ended up with a big smile on my face. The racing was close in my class with lots of back-and-forth depending on whether you took the hard or easy line, so the concept proved itself with the extreme short cut sections.

Sadly doesn't matter WHAT event is run around here lately - turn outs are poor. The community has shifted tremendously to just practicers (and rarely that) and people who stick to their "track" and don't branch out much.

Tracks have made up for it by offering lots of the "same classes"

100 entries Im told is the somewhat profitable mark
And from what I see - that's a rarity here - and they do it with 50-60 actual riders

We keep pushing forward in this industry against the current when all metrics just say we shouldnt...

I had fun and it was for sure different. I think it being on Father's Day played into the low turn out though.

Moto 1 start. Came in a little hotter than I planned on and went wide on the side of the track, but still had a half bike or so.



Moto 2 start. I had a decent jump off the gate and had a good gap into the first turn and put the bike where I wanted it.

I'd bet Fathers day had an effect on the turnout, the past 10 years we just take that day off and don't run any events at our track. No drag racing, no roadracing….everything fails here on that day.

Father's day kept me from racing. Was out there the week before and saw the signs and thought it sounded cool. I immediately went home and ask my wife if she had plans and she just gave me a look like duh.

Congrats on the concept and organization of the event. If it's held again I will certainly make every effort to get there.
