I have never sat down and watched a Moto GP race. I have only watched a few clips. I have never had time with all the Motocross , F1 and sports car racing that I watch. I wanted to try something different so what seasons or races are good?

Philip island 2015 is one of the best races. Try to find a better quality then the video I’m posting.

The last 2 openers in Qatar have had awesome finishes (2018 and 2019). The 2015 race above at Philip Island is also great. There are so many good ones.

Honestly, I have been buying the MotoGP Videopass the past 2 seasons and it is awesome. So much content between free practice, timed q, racing and multiply it by 3 classes.

The video pass is expensive but it does give you access to every race going back to 2002 so it covers every iteration of the 4 stroke era. It would be nice if they had a system where you could give each race a star rating or something. I've watched so many they run together. If you do have access to the back catalog, early 4 strokes thru about 06 is good when Rossi was at his height. Stoner and Marquez championship seasons have good races.

Also a movie on amazon prime called “Hitting the Apex” gives a good look at the series through multiple years. Kind of dated now it came out in 2015 but still fun to
Watch.
A lot of moto gp is the background story of rivalries etc that make the races. For instance if Rossi were to win abain regardless of how boring the race may be if he crosses the finish line first it will a huge dramatic rage because it’s been so long since he won. Similair to if Reed pulled it off. Even an issue I. Qualifying the other day was a big deal because of the history of Marquez and Rossi. Lots of dif story lines and rivalries make moto gp what it is.

You'll be hooked. Check out some of the Moto3 races also.

I attend the US round every year. Headed to two overseas rounds next year

I'd say don't focus too much on Motogp alone, Moto2 and Moto3 have offered some of the sickest close races around over the past couple of years.

While Marquez is typically on another level...he is human and beatable.

And this is quite possible one of the best MotoGP races in a long time

As others have said, Moto3 never disappoints.

Like F1, go-fast day (qualifying) is always fun to watch for any MotoGP race weekend.

I enjoyed watching them before they got all this traction control stuff. You don't see hardly any good powerslides anymore. There was not much cooler stuff than watching the rear end drift out at 120 mph and see the smoke come off the tires as it broke loose.....now its all computerized.....antiskid brakes..etc.

Thanks I will check some of these out.

The Video Pass is worth every penny. I love watching qualifying and Moto 3 races. The announcers are outstanding.

Been loads of great racing this year.

Shits all over F1!

I support the statements of the guys above.

Just go and watch it but i also highly recommend the support classes.

Moto3 is nailbitter like 95% of the time, Moto2 is like that 60ish% of time and MotoGP is 50:50 hit or miss.

Sometimes it is drama till the last corner and sometimes it is snooze fest because Marc Marquez is alien on another level right now. But give him 5 -10 years and he will fade and some new alien will rise. grin

Go back ten+ years, as others have mentioned all the electronics and sensors have made it a shadow of its former self.

Remember to also watch the Moto3 and 2 races. Not watching those would be like only watching 450 SX/MX but not the 250 class at all.

As for the "electronic haters" (can be compared to the 2-stroke talibans in the world of MX), MotoGP has the overall closest racing ever because of the regulations.

MotoGP is fantastic racing! The MotoGP app is excellent, and the coverage of each race is likely the best in all of Motorsports. The video with incredible slow motion shots, the data overlays, multiple views from each bike, all live if you want, is incredible. Between that, Moto America and WSBk there is a lot of great racing to be seen!

I was considering a new dirt bike, probably a 350SXF, then I went to a regional club race (CCS) at Summit Point. I ended up with a YZF-R6. Track days for now, we’ll see about racing in the future. The dirt bike skills translate pretty well. But when you see the pros standing it on the front wheel braking into turns it’s even more impressive now that I’ve been on a track.

Anyone play MotoGP 19? I just bought it for PC cuz it seemed like it may be pretty cool. Did a few laps, completely blew ass and turned it off. If I gotta be on the road, I'd rather jump in my sim rig. If I have to use a controller, I'd rather shred dirt bikes. Help convince me otherwise?

I got the chance to ride at Mugello earlier this year....once in a effing lifetime experience. The Moto3 guys can't break the slipstream on that crazy long straight.

For anyone in SoCal there are usually fun MotoGP race watch parties. I've been to a small theater in LA that shows them, and there's MotoDoffo Winery in Temecula.

Yeah Moto 3, I forget which round in 2018 but starting the final lap there were 11 riders in a bunch with equal chances of victory. Maybe it was Mugello or Assen, can't remember.

Assen last year was epic.
