Looking for some experience... what are easy insurance companies to work with when getting coverage on an MX bike? Is theft & fire protection enough? What is a reasonable amount to pay? TIA!

This thread might turn into a dumpster fire...
That being said, I use progressive. Two bikes, theft coverage, and $2000 accessories per. I pay basically $28 a month, but it was a bit less because I just did the yearly lump sum. It would of been about $35 if it was month to month

@Wade221 - you're right, this probably will turn into a dumpster fire LOL

Appreciate the input guys. I've never insured my moto bikes but I've decided to change that trend.

I use Foremost, with my bike being financed they get you a little bit there. I believe I have liability 25/50, uninsured 25/50, and theft. I pay about $40 a month. It's steep from what I've seen but I'm also young and don't have a history of having insurance.

It was like $150 to insure my 20 TX300 through progressive for the year. I also added a few grand in accessories to the policy.

I pay $75 a year to insure my '21 KX250. I guess with Progressive the word you want is "Comprehensive" that covers fire and theft. According to my agent if it doesn't say "Comprehensive" then you aren't really covered for anything on a dirtbike. I just got my 250 and an 05 rmz450 covered for a year for $115. I got some discount by ordering them at the same time.

I got a few other quotes including from geico on the first bike I insured and progressive was quite a bit lower than anyone else so ive just stuck with them for every bike since and always seems fair. Super easy to do It let’s you pick and choose coverage options/deductible’s so you can get what you need and not what you don’t need. Policy with 2021 kx250 and 2016 yz250 cost me 160$ for the year

I get full coverage thru Indiana Farm Bureau insurance. Be aware wth fire and theft, if you have your bike in the bed of a truck or in your trailer and you have a wreck, it's not covered under your vehicle insurance.

Some of you may recall the other dumpster fire thread a while back when I asked if filing a claim with my carrier was worth it for my 2019 KTM 450 FE. They wound up totaling the bike and paying me $3k more than I paid given market conditions. I have two snowmobiles and an old Goldwing on my Progressive policy, full coverage on the KTM added $80 to my 12 month premium. I've had two claims on it, one for a sled and one for the KTM, both times it was an absolute breeze to work with them.

I’m in Canada and I went through Co-operators just fire and theft. It would’ve been $17 a month but because we added another vehicle to our policy we got a $28 discount per month. So my insurance now costs -$11 a month.

Now that's a bargain!

My wife just informed me that her neighborhood Facebook forum has been reporting break-in thefts of motorcycles out of people's garages. I'm going to add insurance to mine, too. I have cable locks securing everything together, but I know that's just more about slowing down the theft than preventing it.

I also use Foremost and have the same coverage as you. I own the bike and it costs me $80 a year

Fire and theft, 4 bikes on the policy. $160 a year lump sum payment makes it cheaper.

Progressive as well. It’s too cheap not to have.
