Most people know a Travis Pastrana

Funny how TP caved and did the backflip because Reed threatened to call him a girl if he didn't do it. I had a friend like that...we could get him to do anything with a little "encouragement". Uh....he's dead now, though.

Jt...Were you guys too encouraging? I saw a interview or part of one when Travis' dad said something to the affect of " we really love Travis...We are going to miss him when he's gone." or something to that effect. That’s a scary thought as a Dad. To know that he is at an age that you can't sway there decisions any longer.

I saw that comment by Travis's dad you are talking about on the trailer for 199 Lives

It was a little spooky. I guess if your a Pastrana you have to be ready for anything and hope for the best. Kid sure is living life to the fullest.

I used to be that way until I had kids. The kids changed things.

I'd ride to crash. And I'd crash pretty hard.

Backflips on snowboards off anything I'd think I could reasonably make.

Craziest thing I've seen is jumping out of an airplane with no parachute. Death Wish. If he has kids someday, it will change. Read Matt Hoffman's book, he explains it well.

It shouldn't be a surprise or scary that #199's dad and many others recognize the fact that he takes some big (CALCULATED) risks. I don't think anyone realizes his mortality more than Travis Pastrana himself. You don't compete, win, innovate and succeed as much as him and not have a plan / realize what your doing. Props to Travis Pastrana in whatever he does; if he died tomorrow he would have probably done more living in his however many years than most of us have done in a lifetime. Rock on #199! If you think about it, most of us "amateurs or recreational riders" participate in a dangerous sport (mx) with far less preparation, talent, focus etc than #199...so maybe hes not really that dumb/crazy hes actually well prepared? (and that is the real reason he isn't dead, not luck?) :D

I don't think I have met anyone like him personally. He seems to be one of a kind and a very unique individual. I know crazy people but they don't seem to be in touch with reality or have a false persona. He had his head in the clouds but his feet are still on the ground. Very unique person.

Many of us who follow this sport have had friends who have been injured or killed, but none of us have ever had a friend with the talent or balls that Travis Pastrana possesses, unless it is Travis himself. While he may get seriously injured doing the incredible things he does, he has a talent that NO One and I repeat No One on earth currently possesses. This kid thrives on adrenaline and is at his best under pressure. I don’t agree with it, or would I want to be his parents (God bless their souls) but he is what he is and there are no replacements. Don’t bet against this kid.
