Mookie Out for Outdoors

Edited Date/Time 5/13/2016 5:08pm
Mookie is Out, what do all of you think about it? EDIT: I realize there's a post about this already but there's no link so I figured this would make it easier to inform people.

In my opinion racing all summer with fast guys is THE best way to prepare. Skipping the outdoors is not a good idea.

He seems like a good kid... but this seems like a bad move.

The time off will do him well if he spends it training and riding not vacationing. He would not have finished top 5 at the end of the series in his current physical shape so why show up?

It possibly depends on where he'll end up next year.

if his current Geico deal is him on a 250 for the whole year it makes sense that he needs to get ready.
At this point being on the 250 is a waste of time. He wont win in the outdoors, he is just too big on the bike, so he'll get smoke on starts and deep tracks. so he wont be making money racing,

also its guaranteed he is going to the 450. no if's. and if he isnt staying on Geico he needs a place to land come september. Either he needs to put his own thing together or hash out a contract with teams, and negotiations are going on now.

Same song and dance. He won't win sx cause he's to big on a 250f. He sure seemed to win sx. If he can race Sx only and make a living more power to him. The Malcolm is to big is just getting really old and he pretty much proved everyone wrong that he can win regardless of his size! Same stupid comments goes for Jermey Martin is to small for a 450. Where do people come up with this stuff?

Hey , maybe he just doesn't feel like riding.
The outdoors, some say can be a grind.
If your boss said, go ahead, take seven months off, we'll see you in November, what would you do?

Take some time off, do some fishing, party a bit, mingle, why not?

If you look at it from his point of view it makes sense. He realizes he just won the title so his stock can only go down from racing the outdoors.

I really like Malcolm but this has a very big brother like question mark around it. The don't need a fifth rider but they're adding a fifth rider in Malcolms place.

I think the logic for sitting out the outdoors goes something like this:

1. Dude just won a SX championship, his value is very high right now
2. Dude will not win an outdoor title, so his value will drop
3. Dude is smart
4. He is in his strongest negotiating position now and he will use it.

I'm glad for Mookie that he won this SX championship because it's gotta be hard to live in your brother's shadow . Now he has some real that he has earned on his own. But, as a fan, I would like to see him out there this summer.

That makes perfect sense, skip racing all summer to get ready to race in the fall. Guess Copper will also be skipping this summer since he's moving up also?

The flip side is that he is losing the momentum he has just coming off a title. There is no replacement for actual race time.

I think a lot of people underestimate how much of a grind it is to race from January through August, and also how little the guys make racing during the summer.

I think some people underestimate how much of a grind it is to work all week try and ride at nite leave after work Friday to drive to wherever and race all weekend. I know that 9 weeks really must have sapped him. Not even 9 weeks straight either. I guess we will see how it works out next year for him

The most successful racers always skip the outdoors. Good luck to the Stewz.

Have to go with this assessment, hope i'm wrong but i'm sure a lot of people want him to ride for them but not at any price.

Bet we see him at a national or two even if it's on his own dime to prove he can place and want factory teams to raise their eyes

I'm disappointed in Malcom. I feel like he should race outdoors if he wants to be great. I thought he needed the money or so he said.
