The Shop
There's no reason why you couldn't play the special edition version if you purchsse it.
Edit: I see what you mean now. The pre-order in a blue box. That's fine. The special edition has a different release date. Click on the game icon, you'll see what I mean.
As you can see, number/name fonts were bigger in the preview version I played earlier in January. I don't know why they changed it for the final release.
The one thing that I don’t like is that you can no longer shift with the sticks. I’ve always used left stick to shift down and right up. I have no idea why they would lock R3. I think using the sticks to shift is used by lots of us, kind of an odd choice to lock it. I’m currently using L3 to shift down and X to up shift.
I don't like that they basically took all the engine braking away. Turning is a lot different in this one. I'm sure it's something I'll get used to, but damn. I'm tired of having to learn what feels like all new physics with every Milestone installment. They're not even remotely the same like they've built off the other one in any way.
Pit Row
So before everyone hates on the game once they got it, give it some time. You will get used to the physics and you will appreciate most of it. Sure it has some flaws like every game, but overall it's the best MES so far. We can be thankful Milestone makes such an effort every year to bring out a new game for such a niche sport. Have fun playing guys.
Currently halfway through the 450 season on advanced physics.
Most of the game is okay, graphics are great, the physics feels as thought gravity is altered on certain parts of the tracks. Sometimes the bike does an extreme balloon off of some lips while other times the bike is as heavy as lead.
Bike noises are still horrible and i don't know how they continue to think that this is acceptable.
The constant goon sounding hanging revs when the bike leaps the jump is annoying, especially since it's a game full of jumping. There's no crisp braap off the lip, it's always followed by a terrible sounding hanging rev. if that makes sense.
Clutch seems to do nothing. Rev the bikes guts out and let the clutch go and the bike noise just cuts outs followed by a bog regardless of gear and speed.
Small things but they get on your nerves when your banging out motos.
AI is okay at best, it feels as though 19th-5th all bunch up, it's not real challenge to come from last they're all close together.
I like the unique tracks like daytona and las vegas.
Also how rough it gets when messing up a rhythm. Really hurts your speed/flow, the "whoop section" rhythms are gone as far as i've felt. Rad!
All that said, the bad things about the game are so weird and many of them seemingly pointless? I get bugs like the scoring etc. Those are left over from SX2, or getting 0 credits after a race randomly. I can live with minor bugs.
But - as some others have said - the freaking compound tracks. What an incredible swing and miss that turned out to be. Not sure how they messed that up so bad. They are nooothing like the rest of the tracks in game as far as scale and most importantly - quality. I don't know how they scan tracks but the only theory i can come up with is them not gaining proper access and did crappy scans using freaking google earth haha. And then not bothering to fix the files.
Bummer! The rest is killer though, really hope they push out a huge overhaul of the compound asap. Test tracks should be usable for testing before the races, right? haha. These tracks are far from helpful in getting faster or finding settings for the races.
Of course I understand the Switch version had to take a hit graphically, and It certainly did, but it seems like Milestone doesnt want to put as much effort into this version than the others. I got it confirmed from Milestone service rep that there is no Special ed.(so no early access was available) and there is not going to be a season pass, like on xbox, ps4 and pc.... Pretty shitty. OFC still 60 dollar price tag
Been playing the game since the 1st, and man what an improvement over the first two games. Still having trouble being consistent in the rhythm sections. Definitely better than the past two. Whips are tricky to get the hang of, but can look decent. Also finally feels like they got the whoops right. Cant wait to see how the game turns out after some updates, etc. The Legends DLC sounds sick!
Add me on xbox if you want another person on the gate! jordan_crx
Only thing I am struggling with is finding a good base setup.. Does anyone have a setup they could share or maybe put up a link to a youtube video where someone has a good setup shown? I can't seem to find one on my own
Thanks!
