If your excuse for not riding is because you can't find a decent truck for under $20K, I don't know what to tell ya.

But I know this isn't holding back the sport in any way.

I currently use a 2019 2WD Chevy Colorado - 6 cylinder. It’s the extended cab work truck model. We got it in the mid 20’s.
I was pretty surprised at how nice the work truck interiors are now. It came with power windows, carpet, power seat base for the driver, and a touch screen with Bluetooth.

It’s perfect for one person. You can do two, but it’s tight with two gearbags, a track/toolbox, cooler and gas cans.

My Explorer SportTrac is a nice in-between. Crew cab (I guess you could call it?), and the 450 barely fits but the rear tire has to sit cocked to the side on the tailgate. Mileage is ass though with the V6.

Nissan Frontier is closest. I got the Suzuki Equator which is the same thing.

I had a early 2000’s little Mazda b2300, 5 speed. Thing was pritty much as bare as you could get. Really similar to Ford Ranger. I drove that truck for 10 years. Was able to haul all my gear, great gas mileage. Truck was perfect I’d buy something similar to that in a heartbeat if I could find.

I’m not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the line tiny little trucks like those disappeared, and what they call little trucks now use to be full size trucks 20 years ago.

I posted the question on the show yesterday about the ranger (or similar) . I was in college when I got back into racing. Only vehicle I had was a honda civic - I bought a CR125 but had no way to get to the track - luckily enough I bought an old service van from the electrical contractor I was an intern at for super cheap. Still driving it today.

Just thinking logistics wise - gotta have a way to get to the track to even START racing moto. Not holding someone back from racing - but it'd make it easier.

When I look around at some of these races I think there is no way some people can afford the rigs that they have - with all the bikes they have.

At the Briarcliff LLAQ this year someone had like a half semi thing with 4 suzuki 250's for the C class - what?!?!

100% true....vehicles with the same name are now twice as big...compare a new Honda Civic to an original CVCC (not that I'd wanna drive one of those original clown cars...lol).

The new Ford Ranger is massive...

With Honda, that's just branding changes, expanding upmarket over the years. The Fit slots as their subcompact model now, and is the same size as the original 5 door CVCC.

That's a perfect picture of what Moto should be. This pic just says "On any Sunday"..... Heading out with a buddy to your fav riding spot. Toss in a small cooler, little portable grill, you have yourself the makings for a perfect day.

all you need is this.

It gives you everything you need and your bike and gear are always safe.

In 1983 I traded a guitar and a case of miller long necks for a 74 Datsun pickup/5 speed. It was lemon yellow and tiny but it got me to the races. I hated it and upgraded to an 85 Chevy as soon as I could. I thought I was too cool for the Datsun.

Wish I had it now. It was too cool for me.

I dont think buying a ranger is going to help costs.

I cant think of a single reason to not buy a full 4 door f150. Theres plenty of storage and sleeping room in the back. Theres more room up front for long drives.

A pickup isnt making or breaking it for these guys.

My point was more the cost not the size of the truck.

The cost of the truck or hauler has little to do with it, its the cost of the bike, the helmet and boots etc and then very few places to ride. Racing mx has evolved past the point of anyone can do it for a small investment and kids today are not really into it anyway, times change.

You can't get to the track or a place to ride without a way to haul the bike - that's a pretty big part of "it"

People don't want to race anymore - I'll buy that one.- It's not going to save the sport - but if you can't haul your bike you can't go ride.

Affordable pick-up would be great for all blue collar guys not just moto.

2010 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab. 275,000 miles. Still running like the day I bought it. Perfect economical Moto hauler. Fits 2 bikes and gear no problem. 22mpg empty. 18mpg loaded. 4.0L 6cyl. 268hp.
