Modern Gear Designs Are Horrible

Am I the only one that thinks modern gear looks like crap these days? I can't take another asymmetrical confetti vomit jersey. I feel like the only one under 30 thats thinks this way. I just ordered a set of the retro shift gear just because it looks better than 90% of the gear on the market and it's a 20 year old pattern...

I feel the same way. I bought three sets of this retro Thor gear last year.

I hear you on the asymmetrical designs. Maybe I'm boring but I like my stuff to be nice and even and symmetrical. I'm under 30, too so you're not alone.

We seem to have this discussion every month or so. Every gear company will be hit and miss, but some have full lines of God-awful neon spew. I'm under 30 as well.

Fox has some simple designs in their 180 line. Seven also has some simple designs, although some are asymmetrical.

Agree completely..I find it interesting that us "old guys" have been saying this same thing about moto clothing designs since mid 80's. Thirty years now and counting.

I still believe the "classic Moto" look is in this photo. Although I don't really want to have real leather leathers or a jofa or a these soft boots again.

Ppppffffftttttt. . . . Millennials these days.

Kidding. I'm ripe at 31, and I like the cleaner designs also. The confetti vomit is pretty terrible, but I can handle gear a little more in between. My preference is certainly cleaner gear.

It is pretty bad, and I'm ok with loud neon colors. What's really bad is the pastel girly looking crap I'm seeing everywhere.
I also need a new helmet and it's dang near impossible to find something I like. There's a lot of great lids out there that look horrible.

Just about every gear company makes really clean gear. Troy Lee, Seven, Fasthouse, Shift, Fox, all have relatively symmetrical clean designs. They also have clown puke and twinkle toes pastels, something for everyone. I personally like really bold colors, but in a really clean design.

For the record, if JT$ is lurking, the all white Fly gear with simple lettering was clean and classy. Kudos.

I wasn't really pumped on any of the new gear. I liked TLD but it's bloody expensive, and I just got a set of the new TCX boots in mint/light green from a bankruptcy sale super cheap. So I've ordered a set of custom gear from KW racewear in Poland, in similar colour to the boots.

To me this was the best gear combo ever and every year when new gear comes out I compare it to this and am disappointed. I would kill for a mint set of orange 360 gear from 01

I feel like Shift white label is some of the simplest and clean looking gear out right now...

I agree. I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to clothing and stuff. Don't like "confetti vomit" designs on most gear as you perfectly described it lol.

I agree. Even some of the cleaner stuff is shit. There's is definitely some good looking gear out there, but stuff from the 80s and 90s was way more stylish. I'm just gonna keep rocking a retro look til I die.

For real. Everyone complains about flashy gear. It's 2016. Don't like it go buy a set of canvas

Thumbs up for new gear. Am I the only one that can't stand the Shift retro gear that Reed and Hanny wore? I'm a fan of most shift gear especially all the two two stuff.

Half the old gear designs posted in this thread are so damn cluttered. I love new alias and even fly and oneal have been getting better. Truth is, there is something for everyone. Almost every brand has 2-4 different designs, and then a bunch of colorways in each of those. People just need to be adults and shop around instead of being children and posting threads about "horrible" designs.

The Thor stuff right before he switched to Shift was my favorite!
