Looking comfortable & fast on the 450, passed and beat gajser in the superfinal. It will be interesting to see what he can do on a factory honda this season.

That Superfinal was a perfect how to ride a 450 lesson. So easy and in control and barely a finger on the clutch in the corners, everything on throttle control.

He will be the darkhorse IMO in the MXGP.
Starts are on point so far from him and Gasjer!
Got that new Honda dialed.

100% agree, despite being clearly different to a current production bike they have that thing looking pretty dialled

What happened in the first moto? Was hanging with Cairoli, then I checked in later and saw him get passed by Monticelli. Track looked like it developed hard pack bumps more so than the last two rounds, so I wonder if his setup was off

Small crash in a corner. Looked like he lost his rythum after it and took it safe, and Monticello came flying.

Mitch looked good in that video and when he raced Ferris on a 450 a couple of years ago in Australia. Looks much happier on a 450

His technique is really good for a 450. Rides alot like roczen. Lugs the bike and on his toes. His bike looks like it was handling the bumps better than gasjers and ac222’s in the last moto. I know its only pre season, but im pretty keen to see him on a deep rutty hardpack track, thats where he really shines.

He has been amazing in all of these 3 Italian races. And like you JB479 write, he looks to suit the 450 really well!

Evans has been talking about him being a much better 450 rider all of 2019 and there are so many riders that say that so you shrug it off your shoulder but that seems to actually be the case for him.

I think that's what impressed me most, he was consistently good at each event, and looked smooth doing it

Where are all the guys saying it was a terrible decision by honda now???
I'll happily admit i did not see this coming. Obviously it's 'just' pre-season but by the looks of it he should 'easily' be in the group after the championship contenders which is something i did not expect.

In the second moto seemed like Tiga played with him a bit, and let him past but passing him again didn't work out

Was thinking the exact same thing, majority of people had their doubts.

Once they get the bike more dialled watch out

Dude's legit. And he rode like that at Redbud but his 2nd gate pick had him buried in the pack so it wasn't really noticed by a lot. Except Honda

It sure looks like Honda talent scouts/recruiters are better at their job than Vital Tongue .

Who knew.

He did better than expected, but I wouldn't make too many conclusions out of some pre-season races. We'll know more after 2-3 GP's. I still consider him as a top 10 contender at best (what's not something to be ashamed of in a rookie season).

I just can’t believe how deep our talent is... how long too we legitimately win an MXON and I’m not just talking one I’m thinking multiple in the next five years or so!

I would currently put him as a top 5 contender. I know you say don't put too much into preseason races, but there were alot of strengths shown across the 3 races - speed, consistency and strength at the end of the motos. There some big names that he handily beat as well
