Had another good race in Santa Clara, and his stock continues to rise with each race. One of the biggest surprises in the 250 class this season, along with Nichols. He worked his way through the pack to grab a top five on a track that wasn't easy to make forward progress on. With Decotis unable to do much, Oldenburg takes over his spot in the standings, knocking Jimmy back to seventh.

Another MN kid making it in SX/MX. Must be the water up there, as I don't think many people peg it as an MX hotbed? Just goes to show the influence a couple success stories can have on youth and drive...

I hope he can keep that ride. He definitely has talent. I know that a factory team wants podiums, but the fact that Oldenburg is having his best season has to count for something.

Didn't know he was from MN. His bio information says Alvord, TX...maybe Tyler will be along to shed some lite on that topic.

He grew up there. His dad, Jeff had Staples MX track, and was D23 promoter in Northern MN while Mitchell and his brother were kids, then they all moved to TX.

Cool kid, seems to be doing a good job… but that's a factory team, they pay for winners. Not much winning going on around there, maybe they give him another season? I guess outdoors will help decide.

Jeff now runs Oakhill MX in Decatur, TX. GNC Finals are held there. Really great track.

I used to race with his dad back in the 80s. He was one of the fastest in the state for many years and won a 100cc title at Loretta Lynn's one year. When Oak Hill went up for sale some years ago, he jumped on it.

At max, it'll be five riders (Hill, Nelson, McElrath, Oldenburg, and Frye)... Cantrell will move up to the Pro team at Hangtown in 2017.

What's up with Nelson? He was week to week after A1, but still not back. He didn't break anything. Oldenburg talks about him in this interview from week 2, pre race.

I think Jessy just got cleared to ride not long ago, and will put in the time between now and Hangtown getting ready for the outdoors.

Jessy is riding now. Him and the team's suspension guy came by last week to put some time in out in the hill tracks behind my house.
