OK this is a minor comment on what seemed like (from watching on TV) a great day: good racing, fans in attendance, new faces on the podium, live TV.

But what is with the Pala trophies? My first reaction was thinking they look like a recycled Baskin Robbins store ice cream tub.

What am I missing? Is there beauty here? I do not see it. Help me...

I do know that some Promoters like to have their trophy's linked to the event - like Hangtown's historic offerings. That I understand. But Pala?

I thought it was interesting that the trophies has Dirt Bike Kidz as the event sponsor, but on TV the Pala 2021 logo had no event sponsor.

I like the old fashioned gold cup type trophies....the kind you can drink out of.
This thing looks cheap

I think the bonus check is what they are most interested in.

You should be asking why Jett has two giner rings on his hand....
Nothing wrong with the trophy and like someone else mentioned the checks all cash the same! I was stoked to see people being people at the races again.

An interesting programme I watched a few years ago was all about the F1 trophys, and cheap at over 100k each ! 😳

But as for the trophy above I would love to have it sitting on my wall, be my most loved thing in the house, because I came top 3 in a pro race

Twitch said in an interview on Swap Moto Live that they weren't signed on as event sponsor until around a week before the event.

I think that explains a lot as far as trophies, TV graphics, and so on.

If they do it again next year I'm sure it will be better.

That brings back memories. I bought a 1973 125 Peyton with that exact same tank from Malcolm Smith when he had his tiny shop n Riverside, Ca.
Malcolm was the guy that test rode my trade in down the street....a little yellow Yamaha 90mx. Then he’s the one that drew up the papers on the Penton. Pretty good times for a 13 yr old. Paid for the green bike washing dishes at the local Sambos n Palm Springs is

That era of motorcycling doesn’t interest me and I don’t follow GNCC but dam that’s a cool trophy

That could explain it...

I like BobbyM’s idea too - slot machines

Don’t think MX Sports has a F1 trophy budget, but let’s hope for cooler ones as the season progresses.

I agree something representative of the location. Some of the tracks back east have some cool trophies.

Which track was doing the swords? Those were the best ones I've seen in a long time.

Had a 72 with the same tank. The original KTM. Come to think of it, might have been a 73.

Same here. I had a ‘73 125 with that green tank. My first real MX bike. Rode the wheels off that thing in hare scrambles and MX. Great memories!!! Obviously, I love that trophy.

I was surprised that DBK was a title sponsor of the race. I mean its all good just seems kind of small time for a national. No offense to those guys but used to seeing Lucas Oil and companies at that level

Looks like a free raffle box at Subway. Put your business card in here and we pick out one winner a week for a free sandwich!

You can't go wrong with etched crystal vases, gold or silver cups. They look classy and stand the test of time. The promoter/Mx Sports/whomever is tasked with paying for the trophies does not have use real gold/silver/crystal to achieve the classy look of something to be proud of.

I have plastic trophies from chicken licks for 250 beginner that look better than the trophy in this thread.

Like these trophies or not...there is for sure one thing to like about all 6 of them. They all have "Scott Sheak 1974-2021" on them and that is simply awesome! So was the tribute they did for him at the track with a momment of silence...as well as the tribute shown on the race broadcast. The support for Sheak throughout the MX community has been awesome and it has for sure brought comfort and joy to his wife Amy. Ken Roczen and Chase Sexton both ran Scott "Iron" Sheak stickers on their front fenders. Lawrence brothers were suppose to as well but havnt seen any pics to confirm if they did or didnt.

Huge props to DBK for pulling off their presenting sponsorship on short notice. What they did was pretty Epic if you ask me!

S H E A k !!!

I was 13 at the time. I honestly don’t remember what it said on the title. Anyone know if those were 1972-1973 or both?
All I know is about 2 months later Honda released the Elsinore that was about 30 ibs lighter and shifted much better 😭

It reminds me of high school when graffiti gear, wild hoodie designs and fat skater shoes were a thing.. glad that trend died

First year of muddy creek national they had fully functional replica muskets (Tennessee volunteers) with custom wall racks.

They were pretty cool.
