Picked u p a new 2017 KTM 250SX. It comes stock with a Mikuni carb now. Our 2016 came with a Keihin, we had some mods done to it an really like the performance. Is there any reason swapping these carbs would cause any unforeseen issues? Thank you in advance...

I have both for my '17 TC 250, the stock Mikuni is better when jetted in correctly

Nice, that's good news. I was considering keeping carb off my 2013.

I have the 17 300 xc and while the mikuni seems to be a little more fickle to get right it seems better than going back to the Keihn. IMHO

The mikuni stock vs pwk air striker stock when both are tuned in well has a definate edge to the mikuni.

ill try to dig up some dyno charts. Most people just hate jetting the mikuni...Its ultimately more tuneable
but more sensative too

I got a Lectron for my 16 125 and am pretty happy.

A few notes: my bike was used and when I put the carb on I was chasing a few problems. 1) my reeds were warped so I replaced those. 2) the silencer was super packed out, so they suggested I repack it, also I had a small gap where the pipe and silencer come together.

Once I got that dialed I've got 2 turns richer on the meetering rod and 1/4 turn richer on the power jet, now she's running great.

Lectron carb is great for off road. Jetting stays the same with 4k elevation changes. BTW, the 17 Mikuni float level is 2.5mm to high out of the box. JD jetting has kits for all the 17 2 stroke models already in stock.

They switched to Mikuni because the Keihin plant has been shut down. I had the infamous "stuck throttle" on my 250sx. When I was trying to figure out the issue I found out Keihin shut down their carburetor plant and they don't even have anyone for support anymore.

My reeds are in good shape and I've got a new fmf silencer on it. I let the guys at lectron know the mods I did and they built it so hopefully it's in the ball park. It also is coming with a shorter intake and new throttle assembly. Should be here this afternoon.

I currently have a jd kit in there. While it's better than stock, I still feel like it's lacking. I still had to go up on pilot and main from their recommendations. I felt that when I got it good in one area it would take away from another. I've been wanting to try a lectron for a while so I finally pulled the trigger. I'll update Friday after I ride it.

Derek hit the nail on the head. I had very good luck and most of my experience with the Keihin, the only reason why I dont like the mikuni is because im too lazy to learn it! lol

When speaking to douche bag (sleeter) he said it was specifically a performance based switch.
