He was moving around within a second after the end of the crash. He was not laying there limp. He was most likely conscious the whole time. He would have definitely been a bit loopy if he was knocked out and the medical crew would have never let him re mount his Kawasaki.

To me it looked like he was knocked out from the impact of slamming into the face of the jump, and he arms and body looked limp in slow motion when the bike then flipped over. His body being limp was probably the reason he wasn't hurt more because he couldn't tension up. He also laid there limp for a second or two when you watch the crash over and they show the angle on top of the jump.

But he was awake and alert and remember what happened when they had the audio of him talking with the medical staff so they made the call to let him race.

In such circumstances, it would have been wise to skip the race day. Not just for the possibility of concussion but for all the health. The guy might have a fractured vertebra, etc. So much the better if it is limited to bruises.

He 100% should have been forced to use a new helmet before reentering the race. If there were any mistakes made in that whole process of assessing his condition, that was a big one. There is not way the helmet's EPS liner was not compressed (thereby compromising the safety of the helmet) during that incident, and surely he had an extra new lid back at the truck.

I don't know. I have been concussed and have been around others who have. I don't know every thing but in my experience no one who was knocked out was capable of putting in that ride 10 minutes later.

Seems like everyone did their job...including Bell
