Max Vohland?

I didn’t get a chance to watch qualifying today. Did he have a big get off in qualifying, or was he seriously just too slow to make the main event tonight in a field that is this depleted?

I personally feel he was rushed into Supercross which originally was not the plan Talon had laid out. Plus dislocating his hip last year didn't help. I really think we need a 125 class like Europe does to ease these kids into the sport. He should at least have had a season in the Supercross futures, which I don't even know was around when he came on the scene. At 19 he's too old but, I would save him for the outdoors. I don't know where he is based out of but if it's Norcal, there is not many Supercross tracks to practice on. If I was KTM I would bench him until the outdoors starts, and let him build his confidence up during the outdoors. Then go full bore on the SX training for next year.
Kid is fast and had a chance at winning the first Moto at Pala if his bike didn't take a shit.

Houston 2021 he got a 6th place at age 17. And he just turned 19 now.

You guys need to chill down with your comments. Give him time he has a bad wreck early. He’s fast.

Wasn't he and his dad's original plan to go pro outdoors this year?

Kid's a savage on the bike. KTM know what they got. I'm sure once healed fully, he'll post the results expected at that level.

The fact that KTM doesn’t have a multi rider 250 team puts a lot of pressure on him. Some riders thrive in that environment, clearly he doesn’t.

Does KTM have a high level test rider to help with settings like some other teams? It seems like he could use a teammate to bounce thoughts and ideas off each other.

The idea that he is still ' a young rider' is bollocks.

He has been held back , all through his career, class wise, now he has been told to step up, and he cant race SX, at the level he needs.

Lets see how he does outdoors, he was good last year , i think his family would rather he was an MX only guy.

But he isnt a kid.

He got hosed by the changing of the sand section in qualifying, still you’d think he would easily have been in the top 18 prior. Bad start in LCQ and first lap crash from what I could tell. All she wrote

If it wasn’t for his name he would’ve been spit out like so many other prospects that have gotten hurt early in their pro debuts

Varize was better than him outdoors last season and he gets very little support. I would put him on the team alongside Vohland. It would help both of them. Varize because he has more support and Vohlamd because he’ll have someone on the same equipment to compare to.

Yup wait until Pala and he’s gonna get the hole shot lead then have mechanical issues. Poor kid can’t catch a break. Not pushing it for the rest of supercross is probably the best idea for him though with outdoors coming up.

He needs to harness and embrace the "NorCal Faster than shit" mystique asap. Ride that that wave til the wheel falls off, then ride it on one wheel.

Give the kid some time. RD saw some Dungey in Max so chill.

He needs to change his name to Everts or McGrath then he'll have a ride for years, good thinking.

This is the exact reason his dad insisted on a 3 year contract when they asked him to move up a year early. Technically this should be his first year in the pros based on his original plan.

The kid never even raced A class really.

Now, that being said - if he isn’t making strides by next year then you can look at it differently I think. Until then cut the kid some slack.

Thank you for saying this!

Most of the top guys in history have moved up to the premier class by 20/21. Also, a 6th at 17 isn't so impressive when you look at the long list of riders who have won race's/championship's between the ages of 16-18. It's just how its always been. I'm sure someone will point out the exceptions, but that doesn't change reality.

Probably jumping the gun but he should just go race gps. Hasn’t really shown anywhere near impressive speed in sx. Don’t think he has it.

It would be cool if he came here and gave MX2 a go, Tallon was a great GP rider, and he appreciated the expereince.

Classic Vital. Kid has struggled with injuries so throw him on the scrap heap. Oh also a teenager isnt a kid.

Lol exactly. Kid has a serious injury a few races into his rookie supercross season and is out. Comes back for his return to supercross the following season and isn’t the fastest guy so he’s out🤣.

As a fellow Norcal guy I hope comes out in the nationals and kicks ass. He has the speed, if he get's his confidence up he will be a threat. No need to be riding Supercross right now and he could get a headstart over everyone else if he starts outdoor traing now.
I luckily have never had it happen to me but a dislocated hip is supposed to be unbearable pain. It's what pretty much caused MC to hang it up. I'm sure that injury is still lurking around in his head, he's 19 and almost won his first national. I wouldn't be so quick to write him off just yet.
