Wow.

Strong words from a guy that really hasn't done too much. It looks as though he was riding good, hopefully he can back up his words with maximum points in the future.

"I realized when I was about 10 years old and I raced Jeffrey in the sand. I know I’m the fastest. He knows I’m the best"

"Any day of the week, anywhere, any track, I will do amazing things. That’s what I do."

Yea I stopped reading after this sentence.

"I realized when I was about 10 years old and I raced Jeffrey in the sand. I know I’m the fastest. He knows I’m the best. There’s no one that can do things that I can do. Who else jumped the quad? I know it’s not by chance,"

They/He (him and his father) displayed this attitude when he was in the US, which is why they where sent packing I think.

If Herlings was motivated before, he will be chomping at the bit now to show Max what's up.

Herlings has waxed Anstie since Max has been in GPs, pretty impressive for Max to think he is still better lol

Bring on Thailand!

Hmm... Usually when Anstie's being interviewed on camera he's pretty cool/modest (and funny), he seems to be pretty bold in his statements now.

And jumping the quad was just a big risk, Pretty sure others could've done it too, but I know Herlings for one has his share of DNF's due to broken rims/spokes (Dutch championship anyway). It looked rough every time Anstie did it.

But all things aside, he deserved a moto win last weekend. Hope he can show some more good rides this year!

Herlings could park him, then call him a cunt on live television. Wouldn't be the first time he's done it to someone.

Wow that was an arrogant interview. I don't normally care for the brash, cocky racers, but this is kind of awesome if you think about it. He has put himself in a position where he HAS to perform now. If he goes out and gets ruined all year he will look like a complete fool after running his mouth. Kind of on the Max Anstie bandwagon now. Cool

haven't read the interview yet so i'll hold any thoughts or judgement about that until i do...

that said, watched the race last night and he was walking away with the win 2nd moto, great to see him finally riding like he should. anyone know what happened to his bike in both motos?

Only generates further drama and excitement and it's a better attitude than being resigned to 2nd or 3rd etc. But yeah, I can also see that back firing Unsure . Jeffrey's just so bloody quick.

Very interesting interview, though I have to say I think he's being overly hard on himself for his problems in Qatar. Something came loose in moto one (OK he was jumping the quad but it should be able to take that) and then in the 2nd moto it looks like he got screwed over by a rock. All the while with food poisoning too. There you go.

But anyway, this MX2 class is really starting to get exciting again. Can't wait for the next one.

i'm guessing he was laughing all the way through this, the kid has a sense of humour , and deals with stuff his way .

I'm not his biggest fan , but he does things the right way , and doesnt ever take himself seriously

hes either trying to get under herlings skin or one funny muther ffeer! i seen a couple interviews from his sx days a year or two ago and he came across as reasonable and even a little humble.

MXlarge: You know you have given these guys a little bit of hope don’t you?

Herlings: Yes, I just gave these guys hope, and I just want to go there to Thailand, and destroy those guys, I will try and dominate and try and win by 20 seconds plus. I mean here in Qatar I might have still beaten Anstie even if he didn’t DNF, but I know what the problems are and it is all in the starts. The track wasn’t difficult, shorter motos, and it was all about the starts. I will be okay in Thailand.

Im thinking thats why anstie is sounding so brash.

Steve Dixon has really been able to get some great riders or get some riders then they turned the corner.

I hope Ansti stays after it, Herlings needs to be challenged.

I think Steve Dixon said it was the over revving over the quad that cause the bike to expire. Also mentioned how "an over-rev" on a F1 motor reduces it's life by 350km!

I read the interview and wasn't sure if he was serious or not (hope not)

Fair play to Max iF You Dont Believe whats the point in even Turning Up!!! I Think Herlings comments at the end of the 2nd race made him look a bit Daft if you think your that much Greater than everyone in Gps maybe you should try the Ama nationals for a Bit of Competition!!! I Guess he forgets Roczen smoked him and Tommy Searle Gave him a Good Run for His Money....lets Hope Herlings Doesnt Start putting the Silly moves in if he starts getting Rattled...And Good Luck to Anstie you Deserve it after the last couple of yrs!...

Did someone that has never won a race just call himself faster than a 2-time world champion???

Just a second...

Why hate on a kid pouring out confidence that he can win?
I don't understand, maybe he should just turn into weimer and lose all faith he can win or run with the winners.

Anstie is old friends with Herlings. I have a feeling a lot of it was said in jest but the sarcasm/humour does't translate written down. Otherwise he sounds very narcissistic Smile

well i have to say that when doing the interview, i was surprised by his comments and how he was saying it.... i've spoken to Max a decent amount over the years (both in Europe and America) and he's always a good interview, speaks freely and doesn't hold back

i think its good to see him showing this amount of confidence and while it definitely doesn't necessarily come across too well in text, i think he was just really expressing the relief that after all these years, he's finally on a team/bike/programme where he can win races

obviously i knew these comments would raise some eyebrows but i prefer interviewing guys who actually say stuff, and i hope Max backs them up in future races

Max is a good rider, and whas the only one who could beat Jeff back in the day's on a 85. And the year Jeffrey won the Dutch German EK and WK on a 85. he whas kind a lucky that max bike blow up in the 2nd heat of the WK85 or it whould be Max who won it looked like.

but than max steped up to the big bike's, but his riding not. this whas his first race where i saw the old Max from the 85. and on that level he can beat Herlings.
