And here is the beauty of opinions, mine is the complete opposite. Don't get me wrong, I'm not stomping my feet calling for the end of burnouts but as someone who rides for an hour and maintains his his bike 2, I cringe when I see them.
I'm in the same boat. I design bikes for a living and ride bikes for fun, I don't understand why you would want to destroy one!

Last time we cared what the Brits thought about our burnouts was 1776. That isn’t just burning rubber, it’s the communism being released from the tire in a magestic cloud of pure, homogenous freedom shrouding the land in liberty.
Oh I get it, your profile is satirical commentary! It all makes sense now.

Burnouts are cool as fuck I don’t do them but you best believe I’ll be there watching someone else do one BUT I think if a bike just won me a supercross title and a million dollars I’d treasure that thing! Straight into the trophy room as it left the track. Not taken back to the shop and rebuilt with new parts before I got it back because the team tortured it to death after the race. Just my opinion

This.

One good burnout, then clean it up and put it on display just as it came off the track.

Maybe he is too fat to do one himself???

What does the state of the engine matter if the bike is just a trophy piece?

There's half naked chicks dancing under flame throwers with big MMMMMONSTER ENERGY!!!!! signs, and the burnouts are cringy?

wtf is this reasoning even....

Meanwhile..........After the 4th Manitoba title..........Woohoo

The first one a few years back was cool. But now apparently it’s mandatory to do a burn out after the title.

A nod to Goldenrod. Puts a stamp on Anderson's "Dungey-esque" playbook for a Championship..

Matthes was talking about how Osborne's bike wouldn't "let go" and it took forever for Anderson's bike to finally blow.
I still don't get it. I just cringe when I think of treating a beautiful factory Husqvarna motorcycle like that. This is a trend I can't get behind. I thought we liked motorcycles? I'm sure it makes the privateers scrounging for parts and eating PBJ's feel really good. Oh well...whatever.

This is truth. Mostly jealousy by those complaining.

I think if the rider or mechanic or team manager wants to blow the rear tire off, that's fine. It's a bit played, but whatever. But destroying the engine in the celebration seems foolish.

I think a better celebration would be to ride back to the Monster promo area where the hot tub is, have a ramp up to the semi parked there, ride up there and have a Russell Hammond/Almost Famous moment up on top of the semi, then jump off into the hot tub. The bike lives and the rider would be immortalized.

So to summarize this 6 page thread; some think burnouts are cool, others think they’re dumb, and the rest don’t care one way or the other. Who would have ever predicted?

Indeed in F1 they are ranting about the fact they only see one burnout a year, that is at the last GP. With all rules about limited use of engines they can not risk to damage a good engine doing a burn out just for the fans there...

Burnouts? I'm surprised they don't lay the bike down, pour lighter fluid on it, and light it up, Hendrix-style!

If it doesn't hurt my pocket book I could care less. They just won the 250 and 450 title and those bike will get brand new tires with rebuilt motors and put on display never to start again. People act as if they have some vested interest in the bike.

Matthes is just upset because it would take a CR500 with a 150 shot of nitrous to break the rear tire loose with him sitting on it...
