I thought for sure Matt Bisceglia would have had a home there with 4 open spots in the 250 class. Anyone know if he has something in the works?

I'm not sure but I would think he might have something to do with the new 450 team they were talking about.

Somebody posted videos of him riding a 2018 450 suzuki.

Someone else in that thread also mentioned that new Suz 450 team was full (with Matt B not on it).

I noticed on his post he was tagging the official Suzuki instagram, so maybe Wheeler is giving him some support like supposedly they are doing with Hanny? IMO if an OEM has the extra budget to do it outside of their premiere effort, I think it's a great strategy to support individual guys like Hansen, Bisceglia, Schmidt.

In the past few seasons the lack of Suzuki's racing outside of the RCH and JGR teams has been pretty apparent.

JGR likes to pick up riders that don't have a shot at a podium.

Can't recall the exact reason, but Matthes did cite something about it awhile back..

Matt's definitely been training on a Suzuki 450; but no idea if or what he has lined up. Wheeler may just be giving him a solid platform to train on until he can find a ride somewhere. Wouldn't shock me if he ends up as a fill in guy somewhere

Given his history with the brand and level of racing he has provided overall, I'm a bit surprised he's not been an automatic for them.

Phil struggled to make be in the top 10 last year, peters best season finish in 7 seasons was a 7th in 2015. Nicoletti struggled to make the top 10 last year, Decotis hasn't made the podium in 8 seasons. If I ran a team, I would look to hire someone with a little more upside instead of 3 guys in their mid 20s who haven't done much in the lites class in 5 seasons. When I hire people, I don't hire guys who have a history of mediocre results. That's all.

Oh man before you post I'd recommend doing a little bit of research. Phil finished in the top ten in 3 of the 5 races he did in SX, and also got a fifth at one of the races. I would hardly say that is "struggling to be top 10". While you're right saying Decotis hasn't been on the podium in awhile he also never finished outside the top 10 in SX and to me that is about as solid as comes. Makes a lot of sense to me when you look at riders who JGR threw a ton of money at with basically no return (Barcia, James)

What riders available would you have picked up if you were running the team? I'd like to hear.

Look at sx results from last year and count who has the most bikes in the majority of the mains. Here’s a hint Suzuki in almost every race did. Schmidt, Albertsons, Stewartt And Stewart. All non jgr rch that made several mains

Heard he might be on Ronnie Stewart's effort. Can't remember where I heard it but he's on suzukis and Ronnie has the old Suzuki semi so seems to make sense

The truth is that Matt B. is close with the Stewarts and they have a new Suzuki backed team that'll be announced soon.

You have a valid point related to non threat 250 guys but to be fair, they don’t have shit for an amateur feeder program. Their only real option is 20 something top 5 guys.

The guy didn't race a single time for JGR last year, writing on the wall should have been pretty clear when they loaned him out to RCH when the kid finally got healthy enough to race at the end of outdoors. I hope he finds a deal, but it shouldn't be surprising his didn't return.

I'm not getting involved in the rest of this but I hope Bisceglia gets a good ride. He is another of those guys who have been bounced around due to injuries / never getting the time to truly get comfortable with a bike/team.

A good solid hopefully injury free season and his whole career will take off.

Then change the thread title to “Matt B’s options for next season”. Your current one certainly makes it sound like you are questioning JGR’s decision. It’s not a far stretch that others would post questioning all of their decisions.

I disagree I feel like a rider that had connection to the team and Suzuki for awhile would have been in the discussion. Talking shit about riders that are currently on the team was not done based on the title of the thread. It was done because people like to shit on riders whenever they can in threads.

You’re making an assumption he wasn’t in the discussion.
