I read through a few posts here on VitalMX and a few posters have commented that Musquin is still getting booed at the track over the Tomac incident in SX. Is that true? I've watched the motocross races online and you can't really hear the spectators, but for a few select sections, and all you generally hear is cheering.
Some posters here claim it's effecting him mentally.

You could hear it hardcore in supercross.

Who cares. You ever been to a basketball, football, baseball, etc game? I went to a basketball game this year and sat courtside. You’d be surprised what the fans yell at those players and they just shrug it off.

There were a bunch of idiots screaming “F... the French” every lap he came past at Hangtown. They were really proud of cussing him out with kids around.

I care because I'm pretty into motocross and I'm interested in the other dynamics of the race as well. I understand people get boo'd, just wondering if it's still a thing for Marvin. He was pretty neutral or well liked from spectators before, so it's an odd transition for him.

My comment was more towards the people who are against the booing not you. If the riders can’t take the criticism they don’t deserve the praise

At this point, it should be off everyones chest...
Getting to point of just be bullies now..
Exactly my thoughts. I figured everyone would be over it but it seems like there is still some resentment from some fans? I was fine with the pass but to still get booed into MX is pretty crazy.

From what I saw while at Glen Helen he got a mixed reaction on the podium after the Motos, decent amount of boo's, mostly cheers/applause. Nobody else got boo'd at all...

I hope the boos come to a stop for MM, it's different getting boo'd when your on a team with all your buds, it's not taken so personal. noticed his interview that he didn't seem quite himself. I would bet Matilda has to put up with some A-holes also.

It's the demographic the sport wants...lol.

Face it, people suck. And some of those people like MX. Moosecan is a good guy and I'm glad he's here. If he wasn't, those gaps back to the next rider would be yuuuuuge.

He's just gonna have to live with it. Its unfortunate that he's getting the third degree, when his pass wasn't near what some others were. But some MX/ SX fans are very hard headed "back-woods-everyone's-related" type individuals who only see things one way, so he'll have to try and get over it, even if these fans don't.

I don't think people dislike marv for his French-ness alone.
In general, we tend to like foreigners who come over to race in the US and do well here.

I was a fan of the guy for the first several years he was in the USA. Seems like a nice kid...
Now, I find myself hoping for people to pass him and smiling when they get it done.

It started at RedBud a few years back when he would look over and turn 90° across the track before the leap to block Cooper Webb. (Ok, 90°? Yeah I am exaggerating that a lot).

Each passing year, I've seen more and more examples of this kind of riding with Marvin.
The blocking and cross-jumping is subtle, for sure, but it's there.

Marv's tactic is a different thing from what we sew with Ken Roczen at Glen Helen and Thunder Valley. Ken mostly had the pace to lead Tomac and kept it in a line that didn't allow Eli to go by where he was a little faster. The major difference is that Marvin will go across the track and actually slow himself down to block someone. It's like mud-slinging in politics, it works but nobody likes to see it.

In Supercross, the "cat-and-mouse" thing has a little more legitimacy. Still, it slows the pace down and usually just escalates to a takeout, or a 3rd rider catching and passing both the cat and the mouse. Most importantly, it usually involves lines on the ground, in bowl turns, etc.

Honestly, I thought the takeout move on Tomac this year was fine, but Marvin lost something when he didn't just own it. He should have grabbed the mic and said "Hell yeah I took him out, a race-win was on the line!".

People will argue that blocking is part of racing. I cannot disagree with that but I don't have to like the guys who do it. Most important, no rule in the book says that guys like Marvin have to get out of the way and give up the race.

Even though I didn't hear any boos at Thunder Valley, the announcer sure set him up for boos...

During the rider intros

The manic announcer guy yells at the top of his lungs, From COLORADO!!! ELI TOMAC!!!!!!!!! - and the crowd goes nuts, of course.

Then the announcer says - And from FRANCE! Long pause, long setup, wait for it...wait for it - Marvin Musquin!

It's like a setup for an all-out war against France. It's almost hard NOT to boo!

Webb kind of had that coming you could see him cross jumping to the right each jump toward Tomac. But it happens I mean emotions run high sometimes in the battle.

There were a few boos at Glen Helen but more cheers(including myself) that kind of overpowered them. No one else got any boos at all. He could have stayed in Europe but the guy wanted to come all the way here and race because he respects the US series and I respect him for that.

Spectators can suck at times. However, they sometimes have long memories. If it keeps up, I hope Marvin uses the boos to fuel his determination in spite of them.

I didn't like the take out in Supercross, but if you're still booing the dude at races, you're a massive tool bag.

Tomac doesn't have to take out Marvin.

Their called deadshits.....mx tends to attract quite a few of them, nothing new. Good work to the decent human beings that focus on supporting their favorite rider, I see plenty of them chime in on these threads.
