Marty Smith Tribute Video

Damn, that was an awesome tribute video during the LL qualifying this morning. Put together so well with all the OG legends of the sport. A tear jerker indeed. Again, great job and was awesome to watch. They should put that on youtube for everyone to check out. RIP Marty & Nancy

Marty was before my time, so that was a really great education for me on the first American superstar of motocross.

Ditto. I can’t believe he was racing the AMA and GP series at the same time! Did I hear that correctly?

I had no clue about old american motocross history yet, didn't really know who Marty Smith was. I've read some news back in April, tried to get some knowledge about him. And even though I'm a young gun and still don't know much about him, the video hit really hard, even made me cry a bit. U can tell he has to be a legend if people talk about him like that. Rest in piece Marty and Nancy . <3

Yup. And back before international air travel was a common thing. That must've been TOUGH sitting in an airplane for all that time.

Marty was a MX rock star-the first. And by all accounts a fantastic guy, husband, father, and grandfather. RIP Marty and Nancy. A terrible loss.

I have been seeking the image on the right (#1) for years.
Any idea who has an original or the rights, please let me know.

Want for personal reasons, not commercial.
I want it in a poster.

There is another similar I’ve been seeking, but lying other way. (left hand turn)
If anyone knows that one....

Yes that video was great. Marty was before my time so didn't really understand the hype around him. That video cleared it up. Very cool and very well produced.

It’s an honor and a privilege to have a picture of me with my Moto hero Marty Smith used in a tribute video honoring him and his wife Nancy after their tragic accident in April. RIP
The picture shows me nervously waiting (hand on my neck) for Marty to sign his autograph on a picture that I still have to this day hanging in my garage. This picture was taken in 1977 (I think) at the St. Petersburg, FL national. I also have a letter that Marty wrote me framed in my garage as well.
Many thanks to Johner Kight and Todd Huffman.
