Pretty cool he trains in MX. What class does he run? And about where was the race held?

It was a club race in Ponts (about one hour north-west from Barcelona). He really likes MX and rides as much as he can, mostly on the off season tough.

Track looks fun!

Some of the berms almost have a Down Hill/ Slope Style feel to them where you could whip right around on the vertical part!

He has a very smooth style and looks good on the bike!

Bradley Smith is good on an MX bike, but he went to spain to ride road race when he was pretty young ,as his dad, who was also a good MX rider back in the day, figured there was no money in MX..

All the road racers round hear ride MX in the winter, some of them are very good, none of them are slow.

Isn't he 22?

22-14 years ago = 8 years old

Marquez actually started with racing MX as a little kid. But he got the opportunity to get into road racing and I guess we could say he's pretty talented at that.

Was I the only one watching that thinking his bar position was was so forward/high it was visibly a problem and was hindering his technique? Wonder if he has tried lower/back at all.. seemed like the front was twitchy on the fast stuff and he seemed to struggle in some turns as well, very notchy.

Other then that he looked damn good

Finished third huh? Did he get all the way up there and then refuse to pass second and first place? Silly

He got the speed, no argue there. But it is funny to see his style, albows low, typical RR style, leaning forward with his albows low Smile looks a little goon'ish. But he would smoke me, no doubt... But i would look betterLaughing

Yes his partner Lorenzo was ahead of him.

Has too.

Most all of the MotoGP/WSBK guys all cross train on the MX track. I think I read it where Rossi said once that the MX track is the only place that you can simulate the "riding the edge" that is needed on a sport bike built for racing.

Being that the road race guys are not allowed to practice on their bikes due to testing regulations, they have to find another way to keep their "edge".

Imagine if MX ever went that route? Testing bans that didnt allow the racers to practice outside of the official practice events. That'd be crazy. I suppose they'd all have to start racing standup jetskis in their free time.
