Good to see he's ok but what in the world was that idiot doing going diagonally across the whoops at 1 miles per hour while getting passed by the leaders.

I can't tell if that guy was rolling through them or if he got a little huck a buck at the end of them. Either way doesn't look like he should be on the track.

You could equally say why wasn't Malcolm looking where he was going?

He’s already committed to the whoops, you can’t exactally slam on the brakes or switch lines while blitzing whoops..

Why he would ever think to stop while skippin whoops?
There was same thing in second final, lapper did almost crash in end of whoops and Malcolm went over bars when he avoided guy. Its dangerous to put Pro´s and not professionals in same race at SX track.

Change direction and/or put on the brakes in a whoop section and post the video of the outcome here.

Well the marshal was already waving a yellow flag which Malcolm appeared to ignore or not see. He was flat out over taking instead of proceeding with caution. One look up would have alerted him to the situation. How do you know if he was a pro or not? There was already a fallen rider off the right hand side of the track. Looks like the other rider was crossing over to see if he was ok, maybe from something the lap before?

Malcolm already did what he could by changing his direction enough to avoid the rider who was basically rolling the whoops in the middle who then like an idiot decided to waddle diagonally at a snails pace to the inside where Malcolm was already heading to avoid him in the first place.

Some of these international Sx races are like practicing at a local track on Thursday. Such a big variance in skills, speed and track awareness.

WTF?...That dude just shut it down before he exited the whoops then he stopped looking where he was going. SX requires 100% attention, 100% of the time!

This is what happens when you put profs on the tracks with amateurs. Maybe he should take a little bit less money next year and just go to Paris.

Bottom line here is....glad he's ok and will be ready for A1 ! I wouldn't try and put the blame on Malcolm for that wreck either. That damn lapper looked like he was going about 2mph , diagonally across the whoops? Kind a hard to avoid someone like that , when you have no idea what they are going to do , and you're pretty committed in a whoop section.

Both should work together. One weekend, two great events with two great SX Tracks but there are only so much riders to ride it. Just imagine Paris, Barcelone and Genève back to back. Just to launch a idea.

Too many riders made the final for such a tight track imho

If you watch it, the guy he hit, isn't "just rolling" diagonally across the whoops. He gets a kick on the second or third to last one, the bike nearly stops dead and he nearly goes over the bars. As he recovers and saves it, he ends up right in front of Malcolm. Who has no where to go.

Glad he’s ok. It was just a matter of time given how many slow riders were out on what is basically an AX track.

Gotta give Malcolm credit for staying calm there. The dude jeopardized his entire season with that move and Mookie doesn’t even throw his hands up.

Malcolm still finished 2nd after all that time on the ground.. Safe to say both He and Grant had to do a lot of dodging road blocks along the way to the checkered flag. Kudos to both of them.

The lapper nearly crashed on the second to last whoop, so that's why he was going so slow. My only question would be... why would you nearly come to a stop and roll diagonally across the track? Especially since the track was so tight. The lapper probably assumed riders were hugging the right side of the track, but that's a terrible assumption to make as you roll sideways across the left side of the track looking behind you. Malcolm didn't go down hard, luckily, but these off season races aren't worth it with so many no-name Europeans racing and making it extremely dangerous for everyone involved. The only exception for a European off-season event is Paris-Bercy and maybe Genova, since a lot of top guys are usually in the main events.

He crashed in the same spot in the next race when another rider cut in front of him. I like to see American riders ride these off season races but they can be dangerous.

The guy that caused that accident was so far in front of Malcom as he was coming into the whoops that he didn't just almost crash at the second to last whoop, he was in the middle of the track going very slow and he turned his head to look back and he turned into Malcoms line. They were lapping people in the third or fourth lap, sketchy as all hell.

lmao the marshall is waiving the flag 90% of the way down the whoops. JG33 and MS27 are committed to hitting the whoops from the turn before. Do you know nothing about racing orrrrr?

hes not even in the top 10, 3 digit number plate, crossing over and looking at who knows what and why. there are 394897238 track workers assisting, keep riding ya goon

Not looking to start an argument. My point was riders should observe the marshals flags. Malcolm should have seen that flag and proceeded with caution, rather than charging so hard with his head down. I know he's racing, but marshals flags are for the rider's safety and if you ignore them accidents can happen. Now as it happens the guy he hit wasn't the reason the flag was being waved, but if he'd looked up and seen the flag and checked up a bit he'd probably not have had the crash.

What is it your not understanding?

You dont "check up" in the middle of a whoop section you´re already commited to and that flagger is standing at THE END of the whoop section, no way Malcolm sees that guy before he commits to it. Like someone already said, try applying the brakes during a whoop section and let us know how that goes.

Furthermore, in a professional race like this, you could, and should, expect your competitors are professionals and ride accordingly on the track, which this guy clearly is not doing.

Malcolm did everything he could to avoid that crash with everything that was going on, even changing his direction enough mid-whoops to avoid that rider. He cant anticipate that the rider would waddle like an idiot the way he did.

That rider had zero business racing in that event. He was about 10 seconds in front of Malcom and 33 going into the whoops and was barely moving when he moved into Malcom’s lane. The guy was a novice gate filler at best and it was extremely wrong for him being in that race.
