Oh hell yeah! Malcolm is looking good! He's gonna get a podium this summer I bet! Would not surprise me to see him win a moto here and there either! that 450 is the ticket......he was always to big for that damned 250F!

Notice how much he doesn't use the clutch? Hardly ever he has his finger on it. I know its up for debate, as many fast riders are similar to how Malcolm is riding (his brother James for one) but then guys like Villopoto always have their finger on the clutch and look to be using it quite often.

Any thoughts?

From the looks of it, he's going to do well this summer. Marvin looks great too, he was keeping Mookie honest with less horsepower. I guess you don't get to be a 2X world champion by being slow, though.

He will do great as long as stays up and doesnt get injury. Year or so will make him crash less and finish better in championship also.

I wonder how much they used the brakes on that track ? If at all
Lots of brakes. In fact , a lot of those guys use the breaks to help the suspension out in certain sections.

Malcolm and James carry a lot more momentum into, through & out of turns that Villopoto who tends to come in hard and pivot, hammering the throttle & steering with the rear tire a lot more. That means Poto has at least more opportunities to stall the bike if he doesn't have the clutch lever at hand. All three riders have brutally effective styles, but the Stewart brothers' style doesn't require the clutch as much. Down side is...I've seen both brothers stall their bikes at least a couple of times in memory, where I can't think of any time I've seen RV do that. Just my take...

Throttle control.

Those dudes carry so much speed and hit their corners so good they rarely need the clutch. Its all controlled with the throttle.

Malcolm suffers from inconsistency more than James. If he learns to settle down and take what he can get sometimes, he should do pretty well. I'm not sure if he will be in the top ten at the end of the season though.

I would love to see Malcolm kick butt and spend a lot of time on the podium this season. I wish him all the luck out there and we'll certainly be cheering for him at Budds!
