Well pleased for TC & team Italy although I have to say Lupino's penalty was harsh. He left the track in about 3rd place and rejoined in about 7th so didn't gain any places.

Stoked for team GB. Watson held it together after his crash and Simpson was a brick.
You saw something completely different

To be honest, 10 places is a joke for sure. There is no way Lupino would have finished in 7th if he would have braked, and try to get back on the track where he was supposed to.

Sour grapes for The Netherlands, but I believe track cutting is a standard 10-place penalty, regardless the amount of time you've gained.

Does this make Cairoli the oldest winner of the MXoN?

You can argue if 10 places is fair or not, but in hindsight, if Coldenhoff stayed on 2 wheels in the first race and performed as everyone expected of him, Assendelft didn't have to complain to the FIM right now.

Edit: he admits it himself in the interview.

If thats the case, its a terrible rule in my honest opinion. But besides that shit move Lupino pulled off. Great riding from Tony and Mattia!

Congrats to Italy, and what a feather in Tony's cap - the guy has already achieved so much and now this too. Just can't beat this race, nothing quite like it. Nice going by the Netherlands and GB also.

Nancy van de Ven got a full DQ for same , i think 2 or 3 years ago when she won a mudder .

copy from site

The Indonesian WMX Grand Prix turned into a farce for No Fear Yamaha rider Nancy van der Ven. Nancy won the GP on the track, but was disqualified from one heat for apparently having cut a part of the track.

2017, first round in indonesia, race 2. It probably cost her the championship....

The rule is fine. I don’t think they had a track cut like that in mind when they made the rule. I can’t recall a situation like that before. It would be a mess if there wasn’t a standard in place and they would start looking at every track cut individualy and handing out penalties at will. With that said, this one played in Italy’s favor.

Happy for Tony though! About damn time he catches a break at MXoN.

Hands in his pocket. Not a look of a team manager who is livid...

If that's so, that's a proper big brain moment from Lupino. Much easier to start at the front and take the penalty than to ride from the back. Especially on a track like this that heavily favors starts and track position.

I dont care of the just of penalty (10p) of Lupino cutting track, Cairoli is so worthy of the Chamberlain trophy!
