Good to hear Cairoli is ok. I’m sure he’s looking forward to a MXdN at home.

|

9/23/2021 1:58 AM

Well, I think it could go one way or another on who takes victory.

* Netherlands and Italy are the strongest teams, but Van de Moosdijk is barely back from injury, Coldenhoff is mediocre at best since Lommel and no one can predict how Cairoli will feel after last Sunday.

* France only has a chance because of Vialle. Paturel and Boisramé (first race on a 450 ever) won't set the world on fire.

* Belgium could turn out either way, top 5 or top 10. Depends on how Van Doninck and Genot will perform. Everts will be okay on his first attempt, but probably not top 5 in MX2-class.

* Great Britain stays under the radar, but I think they are the dark horse in this race. Podium at least.

* Germany is decent, but Nagl hasn't raced on a regular GP-level for 3 years.

If you look at the classes separately, MX2 is the most stacked class. Meaning, the difference between the riders is much smaller. In the other classes, the level depletes much faster after 6-8 riders.

MXGP: Cairoli, Coldenhoff, Watson, Kjær Olsen, Tonus, Ōstlund, Genot, Nagl, Butrón, Brylyakov
MX2: Vialle, Guadagnini, Hofer, Van de Moosdijk, Mewse, Gifting, Längenfelder, Haarup, Everts, Horgmo, Talviku, McLellan
Open: Herlings, Lupino, Jacobi, Van Doninck, Simpson, Jasikonis, Boisramé, Kullas, Bøgh Damm, Guillod, Bobryshev, Locurcio

Podium at least for GB? They have a decent shot at it but barring extremely unfortunate circumstances I can't see them beating Italy or The Netherlands, and I'd put them on about the same level as France, maybe higher because the track probably suits their riders better.

That's what I meant, anything can happen.

Cairoli probably won't be at his best, neither are Coldenhoff and Van de Moosdijk lately. Paturel and Boisramé just ain't good enough at the moment to take it home for France.

It will depend on Watson's starts, if Mewse can stay on two wheels and if Simpson can perform at least one good result. That's why I think they're the dark horses for victory more than France. But theoretically, they're racing for 3rd place, indeed.

Yeah I thought you might've meant that, I was just saying that GB is for from guaranteed a podium. Paturel doesn't have the fitness, Boisrame on a 450 is unknown but I don't think he'd be that far off Watson or Simpson, could even do better but it's also possible I'm way off. Vialle however will probably finish better than the 450s on GB and blow all the other MX2 riders out of the water as he has been doing in the GPs as of late, so it could really go either way, but if I were to put money on it I would say GB is more likely to podium than France. I will also add that Denmark is a dark horse and while unlikely, I wouldn't be shocked to see them podium.

Eh, this year's MXoN is not being done properly. It's honestly really disappointing and I still think they should've cancelled it, with that said, it's still my favourite sporting event in the universe and I'm still looking forward to watching it even though, although less than usual, even though my country isn't even racing.

This year I'm gonna be cheering for Italy to win instead of Australia because I'd like to see Cairoli win a MXoN as it's really the only thing he hasn't won. Also pulling for Iceland to make the A Final for the first time ever.

|

9/23/2021 3:35 AM

We REALLY couldn’t make it to this race? If there’s fans and it’s business as usual I’m going to be pretty upset at our “effort”. What a shame

|

9/23/2021 3:38 AM

I get that it's not as good as it could be
But it's still some of the fastest dudes on dirt bikes racing around a motocross track..

Soo yeah, boring? Not for me

My heart rate won't be anywhere near where it usually is for the 3rd moto though haha and I'll probably be watching it on Monday morning after I wake up as opposed to Sunday night cause I can't sleep

Yeah I really think the excuses not to go are just that; excuses.

I’m looking forward to it regardless, always an event where just about anything can happen, and does.

I just hope nobody gets hurt, looking at the season entering its decisive phase.

I’m looking at you, JH84.

Coldenhoff pretty much only goes beast mode at this event. He’s a 7-10th place rider almost every other part of the season.

Yeah, I can’t believe KTM is letting him race. You would think Herlings, Prado, Gajser and Febvre would all be sitting out at this point.

Don’t get me wrong, I love and respect Herlings’ pride. I thinks it’s awesome and should be admired. But imagine if he gets hurt and is taken out of the title fight. Yikes, KTM big wigs heads would explode.

|

9/23/2021 5:24 AM

I normally would never miss a MXoN. I wake up at 2:30 AM to watch live. This year I’m going riding. The excitement level is way down. Still looking forward to watching, though.

I disagree that UK has podium in a bag... If Mewse is able to find his alien form from 5 years ago... Maybe podium threat in that case.

I wouldn't sleep on Max Nagl. That guy slays in ADAC and even here in Czechia... Butron nor Locurcio (i'm affraid that Lorenzo is hurt from 2 weeks ago...) can't match him. Excluding KR94 he is the best german 450 rider - fullstop.

I would expect few eyebrows to be risen by 20 yo Slovakian Šimon Jošt on 450, around 10th place in Open quali wouldn't phase me.

There have been plenty of MXoNs with more depleted lineups than this, and they still ended up being fantastic races.

I'll be tuning in!

Just thinking out loud, but does anyone know which team scored the fewest points ever? Was it the year RC, RV and Ferry spanked everyone at Budds? I think that was like 07. If that’s not the lowest certainly it has to be close.

|

9/23/2021 9:13 AM

I may be biased here but Canada has a pretty solid team. Dylan Wright has some serious speed IF he can keep it on two wheels. and Tyler Medaglia is always a really good bet to stay up and do well. I predict a top 10 for those guys.

I agree. Probably a bit too optimistic but I think if everything goes perfect for us we might be able to squeeze out a top 5

I would assume it would be USAs 1986 team then possibly the 96 team.
