MXS toys worth thier weight in gold?

Edited Date/Time 11/11/2019 11:10am
Scored a Pastrana, poto and reed for $5 each at a store closing. My 4 year old sees them hanging on the mancave wall and has been relentless trying to get me to open them for him. So i hop online looking for replacements and geez you can find them close to what retail used to be some some people think they are worth gold and charging insane amounts.

Over the years ive probably bought all of them and watched them all turn into parts bikes before heading to the trash can lol. Oh well they were played with as they should have been.

Moral of the story: buy the $5 toy and let your kid play with it. Even if it could potentially increase 10x in 10 years, big whoop. After 10 years you can sell it and buy yourself 2.5 gallons of race fuel. Not worth holding onto these toys as an investment Cool

True words right here. Let the kid play with the toys.

I have probably 15-20 of these toys still from when I was a kid. Now at 26 I kinda wish I would have taken better care of them but looking back I had a hell of a lot of fun building dirt tracks behind the barn and playing with these bikes!

I’ve got lots of the old road champs and hot wheels bikes. My two young boys have played with and destroyed most of them so I buy new ones off eBay when I can find them for decent prices. I do have some Plano Honda road champs and Splitfire Pro Circuit hot wheels that are off limits to them though.

I wish hot wheels would make their dirt bikes again. They were by far the best. My friends and I use to all have our own tracks. We’d build large wooden boxes, fill them with primo dirt and build SX tracks. My old man made tough blocks out of foam to line the tracks. He also made me when I was a kid and most recently my two boys a foam Supercross track out of expanding foam and then shaved the obstacles in before painting the whole thing. He even glued play sand to the top on the last one he made (which turned out to be a mess indoors). Good times!

Wasnt looking at them as an investment just hang them on the wall among plaques, jerseys etc.....

No worries though baby Roczen will eventually wear me down and get at least on of them.

Good thing I bought two because this has been the best performer since my first E.K. stunt cycle

Here is the foam track my dad made for my 2 boys for Christmas this year. I had to throw it out about a month ago because they had destroyed it (the foam does wear down over time of playing on it). My boys are 2 and 4 so he made it small for them. The one he made me as a kid was bigger. Anyways, I need to get Santa to make a new one this year again.

Me, my brother and my dad made a track on a wood board with jumps made from wooden pieces and even with a whoops section in it, so we could play with our Playmobil dirtbikes.

I recently started thinking about all the mini Stewarts and Charmichaels and Pastranas I had as a kid and wanted to get another one or two now to put on my desk at work but I am having a hard time finding those good old MXS bikes and whatever else brands I had. Does anybody know what ever happened to these things? I still see a few toys on amazon or ebay but they're crazy in price differences. Any leads would be awesome. I miss those toys a lot

Do what I do. I keep my toys at the office and then keep my sons at my house. I have the 96 And 2005 McGrath on Honda and Yamaha at my office, RC on Suzuki and Kawi, Stewart on a KX125 and his YZ450. Every Reed toy they make and RV’s Des nations KX250F. RD, JH, KR and TC KTM’s.
My son who is 4 has the cheap versions of some of these and a few expensive ones and a track and half the toys he has broken but he plays with them every day.

Winner.

Let's talk about the reason why mint in-box collectible toys go for big money: they are bought by an adult hoping to catch emotional lightning in a bottle.

It is the "Rosebud" phenomenon: an adult may pay nearly anything to recapture the magical feeling of a kid seeing that thing on the shelf for the first time. Or maybe in the collector market, the buyer is just some opportunist looking to commoditize that emotion.

But the great part is that you get to give the true magic that makes the toy valuable, perhaps worth millions, to your kid for basically free.

My daughter played with a few but a few are still in the box. The one James signed for her is a favorite.

I use to have Road Champs, Metal Mulisha, MXS, Hot Wheels
When we were at the Anaheim Supercross race hanging with
Mike LaRocco years ago I had set down my bag of signed
Motocross racers action figures for a couple of minutes, some
asshole took the bag right off the table were everyone eats
and ripped them off, we looked everywhere throughout the pits
and came out empty. Make Purge legal, kidding or am I.?

I agree the price of the toys are crazy but listening to my son make dirtbike noises is priceless. He plays with his bikes constantly.

These are the ones that I have opened and on display. Almost three totes full of others still in the package and autographed.

Keep them as moto-memoriabilia. 100%, and buy your kid some other bullshit dirt bike toy that he can destroy.

The ones that didn't make the noise were prime. They looked cooler and they didn't deafen the house any time you looked at the swing arm.

Between my brother and I, I can remember having Pedro Gonzales, Mad Mike Jones, Mike Larocco, Keith Johnson, Tim Ferry, Travis Pastrana, Ricky Carmichael and Jeff Emig.

I've got that same one but it's MC.  I also have a Windham, Tortelli and I think maybe a Pichon in a box in a closet somewhere.
